Our new care coordinator, Margaret, met Oskar the therapy dog today! Margaret is working with clients for supervised visitation, recovery coaching, casework services, and is developing an educational substance use class for our adolescent clients. Welcome Margaret!

We are pleased to offer a supplemental program to our clients seeking trauma treatment. The Healing from Trauma group takes a gentle, interpersonally focused approach to overcoming trauma symptoms while receiving supportive feedback from others experiencing similar challenges.

Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) is an evidenced based cofacilitated group that leverages shared experiences and collective wisdom for mutual learning with participants. WRAP's foundation is centered on five key concepts: Hope, Personal Responsibility, Education, Self-Advocacy, and Support. With these key concepts, the WRAP framework allows participants to learn about their wellness, stressors, coping tools, crisis planning, and action planning. WRAP is considered for EVERYONE, regardless of profession, age, experience, or diagnosis.

Phoenix staff attended an in-house event celebrating the opening of our new Family Center! We were delighted to have several special visitors, including one of Phoenix's founders, Dr. John Newbauer, and alumnus Dr. Dave Jolliff and his lovely wife Sandy.

The Family Center is a dedicated space that can provide wrap-around services for families in need of collaborative care among providers, providing family, couples, and individual counseling. Our Family Center therapists are able to work closely together to provide a highly attuned plan of care to help families achieve healing in an effective, efficient manner.

We love our undergrad interns! It's so much fun when Da' zah, Cece, and Sydney are all in the office like today. All three are Psychology majors from Indiana Tech and are a helpful addition to our Phoenix team, whether it's developing and assisting with groups, helping in the front office with customer care, or assisting with the many projects we have underway!

Oskar and his owner, Brian, are often seen bringing smiles to staff and clients alike at Phoenix. We are so glad to have the magic of a therapy dog on staff. Our clients experience the comfort of a loving, safe animal presence to calm and support as they navigate the difficult tasks of healing, and our staff members enjoy the stress-relieving benefits of his company as they engage in their heartfelt work.

We are deeply saddened to share that our graduate level intern, Katie Selby, has passed away. Katie joined Phoenix Associates in May 2023 as a graduate student therapist completing her internship with us through Indiana Wesleyan University. She enjoyed working with her therapy clients and was a valued member of our internship cohort. She was excited to graduate in December and to continue to see clients with her Master's in Social Work, continuing to achieve her heartfelt goals to help others and support her clients' mental health. We enjoyed and valued having Katie as part of our Phoenix family, learning and growing into her new role as a therapist.

We extend our deepest condolences to Katie's loved ones, family and friends during this difficult time.
