Air travel can be intimidating, but Breast Cancer survivor has some tips and tricks to make the ride that much smoother. 😌
“✈️Are you a breastie who is traveling by plane soon?! Keep reading! 👇🏻
Lymphedema is the accumulation of lymphatic fluid in vessels after your lymphatic system is impaired. For breasties, the fluid typically builds up in your arm, hand, chest, or breast. If you’ve had a sentinel node biopsy, ANY # of lymph nodes removed, &/or radiation, you’re at risk.
What does lymph fluid have to do with flying? The decrease in pressure (even in a pressurized cabin) changes the way lymphatic fluid flows & can lead to swelling in your affected arm. As such, it is recommended by several sources (including & the ) that if you’re * AT RISK* (even if you don’t have lymphedema !), you wear a compression sleeve when flying to help with lymphatic flow.
⭐️ Other travel tips: I don’t lift my luggage anymore & do simple stretches during flight, too.
