Yesterday Residents celebrated National Apple Dumpling Day🍎National Apple Dumpling Day honors a sweet delight of Autumn. With fall fast approaching, this food holiday comes at the height of apple harvests.
Our residents enjoyed making homemade Apple Dumplings, in the resident kitchen! Residents shared stories of cooking their favorite baked goods and enjoyed tasting each batch that came out of the oven as well! 🥰😋

Today our residents painted fall door hangers. 💞
Residents enjoyed taking their time and painting, we also took some time to make extra signs for our Future Residents Moving in!

We wrapped up Assisted Living Week up with a raffle for both residents and staff as well as a gift for each. Staff and residents also enjoyed Silver Birch Trivia and a fun punch board filled with prizes! 🩵🎟️🎁
We are thankful and appreciate all our staff and residents and look forward to all the memories ahead!🩵

On September 11, 2001, almost 3,000 people lost their lives during the attacks at the Twin Towers, Pentagon and aboard United Airlines Flight 93.

Today 24 years later, we remember the lives that were lost and patriotism that it brought in the following days.

Our residents enjoyed patriotic themed ice cream sundaes as we paused to remember where we were on that dark day. 🍦🇺🇸

Lets get Groovy with Day ✌🏼 of Assisted Living Week☮️ 🌸☮️✌🏼🌼
Today we brought some flower power to Silver Birch of Fort Wayne as we enjoyed some 70’s music from DJ Dan. 🪩🕺
Snacks included pineapple upside down cake and
pop rocks as those were popular in this time.
As staff and residents alike had a great time, we completed our day with a soul-train dance line. 🪩🕺

National Assisted Living Week is celebrated annually to recognize the crucial role of assisted living communities in providing care and support to seniors and individuals with disabilities, to honor the residents and dedicated staff, and to educate the public about the benefits of this care model

Today we kicked off the week with a tailgate party🏈🩵 wings, meatballs and mini weenies. Lots of laughter and fun games for staff and residents.
I say we made a touchdown with this team at Silver Birch of Fort Wayne.

The members of this club plant flowers and vegetables of their choosing and ensure that they grow and thrive for all to enjoy. This year they have been challenged as it has been so hot, but nonetheless their plants are looking great!

Meet Jo Ellen Bleavins – President & CEO of Silver Birch 👋

With a heart for service and a passion for people, Jo Ellen Bleavins leads Silver Birch as President and CEO. Her journey began in high school, volunteering at a local nursing home—a spark that lit a lifelong commitment to senior care. Armed with a nursing degree and an MBA, Jo Ellen has spent her career shaping healthcare delivery through innovation, compassion, and advocacy.

Driven by the belief that everyone deserves dignity, safety, and quality care—regardless of income—Jo Ellen finds purpose in helping residents thrive and supporting the team members who serve them. Whether mentoring staff, analyzing data, or championing change in Medicaid and managed care, she brings unmatched energy and heart to everything she does.

Outside the office, Jo Ellen is a devoted wife and mom, loyal friend, dog lover, movie buff, and lifelong Cardinals fan. She loves good food, great music (even if she can’t carry a tune), and soaking up the sun. Above all, she’s someone who’s determined to leave the world better than she found it. 💙
