Howdy cowboys and cowgirls! Western Day was a blast. Our kitchen made ribs and cowboy baked beans for lunch and we ended the day with cactus silhouettes 🐴🌵🤠

We had a “reel” good time on day 3 of assisted living week. The theme was “gone fishing” and we celebrated with a fish fry and dirt pudding cups! Our residents and staff are such a catch 🐠🛶🎣

AL week is all about CELEBRATION!🎉 Here are some pictures of our lovely residents and staff on days 1 & 2 of assisted living week. “Through the decades” and “Luau Day” were the themes for the day and it was a joy seeing costumes throughout the building! 🪩🌺🥥

Welcome to the Carnival! 🎡🍿🍧
Most of us can’t get out to the carnival so we decided to bring it to Silver Birch. Residents and staff enjoyed funnel cakes, cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn! The Mini Skeeball game was a hit and took some people back to their younger days playing the carnival games at their hometown fairs.
The building and dining room were beautifully decorated to bring some cheer to the atmosphere. And to top it off we had Phillip the balloon guy stop by for dinner to make our residents some neat accessories. Thank you to all of the volunteers and sponsors who helped put this event together!

Here at Silver Birch on Cook Road we’ve found a new way to get our exercise in. Did you know that drumming has many benefits including getting to express yourself, releasing stress and negative feelings, and makes you feel happy overall.
It simply allows you to flow with the rhythms of life by simply feeling the beat! 🥁😊

The members of this club plant flowers and vegetables of their choosing and ensure that they grow and thrive for all to enjoy. This year they have been challenged as it has been so hot, but nonetheless their plants are looking great!

Meet Jo Ellen Bleavins – President & CEO of Silver Birch 👋

With a heart for service and a passion for people, Jo Ellen Bleavins leads Silver Birch as President and CEO. Her journey began in high school, volunteering at a local nursing home—a spark that lit a lifelong commitment to senior care. Armed with a nursing degree and an MBA, Jo Ellen has spent her career shaping healthcare delivery through innovation, compassion, and advocacy.

Driven by the belief that everyone deserves dignity, safety, and quality care—regardless of income—Jo Ellen finds purpose in helping residents thrive and supporting the team members who serve them. Whether mentoring staff, analyzing data, or championing change in Medicaid and managed care, she brings unmatched energy and heart to everything she does.

Outside the office, Jo Ellen is a devoted wife and mom, loyal friend, dog lover, movie buff, and lifelong Cardinals fan. She loves good food, great music (even if she can’t carry a tune), and soaking up the sun. Above all, she’s someone who’s determined to leave the world better than she found it. 💙

“Why did the trombone go to the party? Because it knew how to slide on into the fun!” 😂🎺

It was a pleasure getting to watch the Northrop High School band practice for the upcoming fall show and watch our ED sing his highschool fight song. Some of our residents attended Northrop and remember watching the band play during the football games. We cant wait to attend more performances in the future!
Getting out into the community is important to the residents and we are always looking for fun things to do!

When the temperature rises, a frozen treat is just what you need. Snowcones were a big hit during this very sunny afternoon. Our residents and staff mixed and matched flavors - with cotton candy being the crowd-pleaser! 🍧☀️
Food always brings the community together and is best when made right at home.

We made colorful jars of sand during our craft day with Nicole from American Senior Communities and it took us back to days on the beach 🏖️🐚🦀
Did you know that sand is a natural exfoliant for the skin? Not only is it beneficial for our bodies but it’s also fun to play in and create art with!
