Your eyes deserve regular care—just like the rest of your health. The frequency of your eye exams depends on your age, risk factors, and vision needs:

- Children: First exam at 6–12 months, again at age 3, before school, and then every 1–2 years.
- Adults (18–64): Every 2 years if you have healthy vision, but yearly if you wear glasses/contacts or have risk factors like diabetes.
- Adults 65+: Annually, as age-related eye diseases (like cataracts, glaucoma, and AMD) become more common.

At Ophthalmology Consultants of Fort Wayne, we provide personalized eye care to help you maintain healthy vision at every stage of life.

Don’t wait until there’s a problem—schedule your next eye exam today!

Happy Presidents’ Day! 🇺🇸

Did you know Abraham Lincoln, one of our greatest presidents, likely had strabismus (commonly called “lazy eye”)? Historical accounts suggest one of his eyes drifted upward, especially when he was tired. Conditions like strabismus are treatable today, especially when caught early.

At Ophthalmology Consultants of Ft.Wayne, we often see patients experiencing digital eye strain from long hours on computers, phones, and tablets. Blue light from digital screens can contribute to eye fatigue, headaches, and disrupted sleep patterns.

Blue light glasses are designed to filter harmful blue light, making screen time easier on your eyes while helping improve focus and comfort throughout the day. For adults balancing work, family, and screen-heavy lifestyles, they can make a big difference in long-term eye health.

Take care of your eyes—schedule an exam with OPHC to see if blue light glasses are right for you!

It might feel like a quick relief when your eyes itch or feel tired, but rubbing them can actually do more harm than good.

- Rubbing your eyes can break tiny blood vessels, causing redness.
- It spreads germs, increasing your risk of infections like conjunctivitis.
- Over time, frequent rubbing can weaken the cornea and contribute to eye conditions such as keratoconus.

Instead of rubbing, try using lubricating eye drops, a cool compress, or simply giving your eyes a rest.
