👏👊It has been a busy week! Both Michelle Wood and Kori Engdahl are set up and seeing patients. 👊👏

We believe in having a choice in where you have labs and testing done and will offer you a wide array of choices when you see our providers in office. Here's why:

Some patients have great healthcare coverage with low deductibles. That's great! But, not all of our patients have that option.

Most private insurance companies provide contracted rates with companies like Labcorp and Quest. For those patients, we partner with both companies to offer you in-network options.

Patients who have high deductibles or who pay cash are more than welcome to use those laboratory companies. However, we also offer an option of having labs drawn through a company called Rupa. Rupa allows us to package labs and tests together for more affordable prices while allowing you to utilize local labs to have your blood drawn. Rupa also allows us to order specialty gut health, hormone, and allergy testing that some of our local labs do not provide.

Michelle is a Licensed Massage Therapist with an Associate of Applied Science in Therapeutic Massage and a Certificate in Holistic Health. Since becoming licensed in September 2024, she has continued to grow her skills and passion for bodywork.

Her extensive training includes modalities such as deep tissue, sports massage, prenatal, geriatric, hot stone therapy, and cupping. Michelle blends technical skill with intuitive touch, creating customized treatments designed to support healing, reduce pain, relieve stress, and promote overall wellness.

With a deep appreciation for the connection between body and mind, Michelle is committed to ongoing education and staying current with the latest advancements in massage therapy and holistic health. Her goal is to provide each client with a personalized, therapeutic experience rooted in care, professionalism, and results.

Michelle is passionate about helping others feel their best, whether they are recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, or simply in need of relaxation.

🎉‼️ We are growing AGAIN at EWC ‼️🎉

Please join us in welcoming Kori Engdahl to Empower Wellness Center starting in July. Appointments can be made by calling 260-284-4880 or by visiting our website at empowerwellnessfw.com! Although we will not be providing obstetric routine care at the clinic, Kori will be a wealth of knowledge for women related to other areas of women's health!

Kori has worked in the greater Fort Wayne area in obstetrics and gynecologic health since autumn of 2005. She holds dual certification as a Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Kori’s experience as a midwife and NP ranges from seeing clients at Fort Wayne’s Lafayette Street Family Health Clinic, to instructing undergraduate student nurses in the lab and clinical settings, to volunteering with St. Martin’s Healthcare in Garrett. From 2012 to 2024, Kori worked as a full-scope Certified Nurse Midwife, seeing clients in Auburn and attending births at DeKalb Hospital, Auburn Birthing Center, and later Dupont Hospital. Over the years, she has been honored to welcome over 600 babies into her hands as a midwife. Kori remains on staff at Auburn Birthing Center in an administrative role. Although attending births has been a special and irreplaceable part of her life, she has been looking forward to a transition to wellness and preventive care outside of the childbearing cycle.

“Listen to women” is probably the best way to summarize Kori’s philosophy toward caring for her clients. Her approach to midwifery and wellness/preventive care has been a mix of traditional (allopathic/“Western”) and holistic methods. She looks forward to adding a functional medicine perspective as well. The right approach for any one person will be guided by that person’s own goals and values.

Kori is a longstanding member of several professional organizations including the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN); the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM); and the Coalition for Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana (CAPNI). She holds her Bachelor’s in Biology from Earlham College, her initial Nursing degree from Purdue Fort Wayne, and her Master’s in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University (formerly Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing).

Although she was raised in Columbia City, Kori now lives in Fort Wayne with her husband and their two children, as well as two cats and an aquatic turtle. She looks forward to introducing her children to overnight backpacking trips when they are older and ready! Meanwhile, her family will accompany her as she works toward her goal of visiting every State Park in Indiana, and hiking every mile of every trail in each park.
