Dear NEIAND Members,

We regret to share that we have been unable to complete elections for the 2026–2027 board due to an incomplete ballot. Despite having a strong membership base in our district, it has become increasingly difficult to secure volunteers for leadership roles. This year, we were unable to identify a candidate for President-Elect.

As a result, the Executive Board is recommending that NEIAND dissolve its district status and transition to a regional model.

We are seeking your feedback on this recommendation. In order to remain a district, we must receive votes from at least half of our membership (22 or more individuals), along with a volunteer willing to serve as President-Elect (see email with direct link to bylaws for President-Elect responsibilities).

We have put together this graphic to help simplify the differences between district and regional models. For more information, please visit the Academy's website.

Action Items:
- Please submit your vote by Friday, April 24. While our bylaws do not require a membership vote for this transition, sufficient interest in maintaining district status—along with a committed President-Elect—may allow us to continue as a district for at least one more year.

Tierra studied at IU Bloomington and completed her master’s and dietetic internship at Loyola University Chicago.

What a wonderful evening together celebrating Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day (3/11) and National Nutrition Month.

We enjoyed Salsa Grille for dinner and a presentation by Hanna Kelley on Full Fat Dairy & the new dietary guidelines. Thank you, Hanna, for a fantastic presentation & discussion!

The Medical Nutrition Therapy Act has been updated and your voice can help expand Medicare coverage for essential nutrition services. This legislation would improve access, reduce healthcare costs, and strengthen the role of RDNs.
