The Doula Network of Fort Wayne

The Doula Network of Fort Wayne Doulas provide evidence-based information, and physical and emotional support to moms and partners during the prenatal, birth, and postpartum journey.

The Doula Network of Fort Wayne (DNFW) is an association of independent doulas in and around Fort Wayne, Indiana, joined together to support and encourage one another and to increase the public's awareness of the benefits of working with a doula before, during, and after birth. We are NOT a doula practice or a training organization, but a group of professionals working to positively impact the local birth culture. We are both birth and postpartum doulas who support all choices for labor, birth, and postpartum, the only criteria being that the mother-to-be is the one making them. Our doulas are as unique and varied as the families we serve. But one thing is certain - we're ALL passionate about and deeply committed to helping local women and their families have the kind of labor, birth, and postpartum experience they always hoped possible.

It's World Doula Week! This week, we celebrate the unique role of doulas in perinatal care, from pregnancy and birth to postpartum.

Doula work is, at its heart, rooted in serving families along the journey of childbirth, but goes far beyond that. While doulas may be associated with the labor and birth itself, their role begins long before a baby is born. From pre-conception planning, to pregnancy care, to labor, to immediate postpartum, to extended postpartum and beyond, doulas support families through every stage of welcoming a baby.

This year, we're celebrating all the unique forms doula work can take, with a special look at the past 20 years of consistent support the DNFW doulas have shown this community.

2025 has been quite a year for DNFW! We have grown exponentially - adding many new doulas and hosting a number of fantastic events! We can't wait for what 2026 has in store!

We collectively attended approximately 236 births this year, and our postpartum doulas supported families for approximately 405 hours! We provided birth support, postpartum support, lactation support, bereavement support, photography/videography, and childbirth education.

It has truly been a joy for each of us to serve in the greater Fort Wayne area. Happy New Year, see you in 2026!

After a long, redemptive birth for a sweet family, my client looked up at me and said, β€œThank you, I couldn't have done this without your constant help, support, and encouragement.” It is such a gift to be a part of one of life’s biggest moments. Hearing that I made a meaningful difference makes me so grateful that the Lord has entrusted me with this business.

Some passions of mine are women feeling educated and confident going into their birth. My goal is for them to know their options, learn how to ask good clarifying questions, and create preferences that help them feel in control of as much as possible.

I am a Christian and feel a call on my life to support families through this season. My hope is that those who interact with me feel Christ’s love through me, sense my calmness through the unknowns, and feel tangibly supported every step of the way.

Please welcome our new Director Alyssa Oprie, our new Treasurer Makayla Slone, our new Event Coordinator Shelby Yarnelle, our returning Secretary Ronae Cleland, and our returning Webmaster Laura Kiefer. We're looking forward to building on our growth as DNFW continues to flourish!

Our final Meet the Doulas of 2025 was a success! We had such a great time at the Peggy F Murphy Community Center meeting with expecting families, eating delicious food from Cocina Cura, and connect with La Leche League and Babywearers of Northeast Indiana.
