Mid-American Salt is a wholesale & manufacturer for bulk road salt, ice melt, and various other products across a multitude of revenue streams. We are looking for a full time Accounts Payable person who is willing to grow in and with the position according to company needs. We are looking to fill this role asap.

Job Description

Reviews all invoices for accuracy by reconciling the purchase order, receiving document and invoices.

Enters all invoices into QuickBooks

Obtains appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.

Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities.

Resolves purchase order, invoice or payment discrepancies.

Ensures credit is received for outstanding memos.

Maintains vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements. Researches and resolves any outstanding balances.

Verifies federal ID numbers and maintains W-9 records yearly

Willing and able to take on any additional accounting duties outside of A/P as needed.

Perform any and all assigned administrative duties i.e.assisting retail in clerking walk-in customers, filing, answering phones, collections phone calls, etc.

Skills and Abilities Required

Problem solving – strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, can think outside the box, and the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Communication – maintains relationships with vendors and keeps vendor accounts and records up to date and accurate.

Planning / organizing – ability to work independently, demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, prioritizes and plans work assignments, organized and uses time efficiently to meet deadlines.

*Our busiest time of year is the winter season and will likely require overtime hours.

Qualifications

Years of Experience - 2+ years processing accounts payable invoices with detailed knowledge of accounts payable processing

2+ years of experience working in a fast paced office environment

Experience with QuickBooks preferred but not required

**FRONT END LOADER OPERATING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED!**

This is a dynamic, fast paced seasonal position during the winter season that also requires some after hours overtime. We are open after normal business hours (as needed) during winter snow and ice events. After hours would be during snow and ice events only, are mandatory, and are paid at a higher rate that normal business hours pay. Our normal scheduled work hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, therefore after-hours are 5pm-8am.

Duties include:

- Loading bulk road salt with front end loader onto customer trucks with V-Box salt spreaders
- Loading pallets of ice melt with a forklift onto customer trucks/vehicles
- Unloading incoming pallets of ice-melt from semi trucks
- Maintenance of all equipment
- Keeping yard clean and organized
- Local deliveries using company vehicles
- Processing retail/cashier transactions via computer

Required skills include:

- Experience with operating a front-end loader and a forklift is a must
- Equipment maintenance
- Internet savvy
- Microsoft Office efficiency (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Customer service, retail, cashier/cash handling

Slick Transport, a Mid-American Salt company, is looking for CLASS A CDL drivers to join our team in our Toledo, OH and Fort Wayne, IN locations. You will be working for a family owned and operated company. This is a home every night, no touch freight position with year-round work. Our focus this year is upgrading our employee experiences and we want drivers that are looking to be part of our growing team!

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Truck Driving - 1 year (preferred)
• Dump, End-Dump, Flatbed, Semi - 1 year (required)
• Pneumatic - 1 year (preferred)
• Class A CDL (required) or Class B CDL for dump truck only

LOCATIONS:
• Toledo, Ohio (Within 150 air-mile radius)
• Fort Wayne, IN (Within 150 air-mile radius)

REQUIREMENTS:
• Class A CDL license or Class B CDL for dump truck only; TWIC endorsements (or ability to obtain one) a plus
• Experienced with Dump, End-Dump, Flatbed, Semi, Pneumatic
• Ability to drive a manual transmission (10 and 13 speed)

Essential Duties:

• Pre/Post Trip Inspections of equipment to ensure mechanical, hydraulic, and safety issues are addressed
• Able to adapt and handle unexpected situations in a professional manner
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50lbs, squatting and using equipment necessary for delivery to include properly securing loads
• Ability to work in areas with exposure to dust, fumes and high noise levels
• Safely and efficiently maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions
• Willingness to occasionally work weekends during peak season

Mid-American Salt is currently hiring reliable/accountable, hardworking, truck driver for our trucking company, Slick Transport in Toledo, OH. Slick Transport is a not-for-hire trucking company and we only haul our own Mid-American Salt products bulk salt products & palletized ice melt. This is all local trucking within 150 mile radius of Toledo, OH and our drivers are home every night. We have 4 Quint Axle Dump Trucks & 3 Semi's with dumps, flatbed & van trailers.

Requirements to be Considered for this Position:

- Must have a valid Class A CDL drivers license
- Familiar with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Solid MVR, no serious violations in the last 10 years
- Successfully pass required DOT pre-employment screening
- Possess good communication skills
- Minimum of 6 months dry bulk tanker
- Minimum of 1 year dump experience

Responsibilities of the Position:

Delivery Activities:

- Responsible for delivering material directly to customers using the most efficient route available.
- Ensures that delivery schedules are met while providing friendly and professional service at delivery site.
- Maintains all DOT records to ensure that Federal DOT reporting requirements are being met.
- Complies with all highway rules and regulations.
- Physically capable of using equipment to load and unload trailer, including pulling hoses and climbing on top of the trailer

- Capable of heavy lifting, squatting, and climbing

Safety Maintenance:

After hours would be during snow and ice events only and are mandatory. Our normal scheduled work hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, therefore after-hours are 5pm-8am (after hours schedule is dependent on timing and severity of snow event).

Duties include:
Loading bulk road salt with front end loader onto customer trucks with V-Box salt spreaders
Loading pallets of ice melt with a forklift onto customer trucks/vehicles
Unloading incoming pallets of ice-melt from semi trucks
Maintenance of all equipment
Keeping yard clean and organized
