Farrington Specialty Centers is devoted to the treatment of eating disorders, compulsive exercise, and body image issues as well as co-occurring disorders including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relational concerns. We provide specialized care for athletes and dancers with disordered eating and body image concerns. We offer a wide range of services, including comprehensive assessments, outpatient counseling, group therapy, an intensive outpatient program as well as a partial hospitalization program. We specialize in all ranges of eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, disordered eating, and body image disturbances.

In honor of yesterday being the first day of Eating Disorder Awareness Week, we wanted to share how we are supporting this years theme, “Every Body Belongs”, with our own daily themes that we are doing here at Farrington Specialty Centers this week!

Yesterday’s theme was Change!

We wanted to celebrate our dietitians because they are a key part of helping our clients change and grow. Individualizing meal plans, accommodating medical needs, helping to heal our relationship to food are just a few things our RDs do to help us reach recovery. Thank a dietitian today for all they do!

Meet Shelby!

Shelby Drake, RD, LD is a Registered Dietitian based in Bloomington, Indiana, who is passionate about helping individuals and families build healthier relationships with food. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Indiana University and has spent the past seven years supporting clients in both hospital and outpatient settings.

Shelby has experience working with a wide range of health conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, PCOS, kidney disease, and cancer. Over the last five years, she has found her calling in the treatment of eating disorders — with a special focus on helping children and teens heal through family-centered care.

Drawing on techniques like motivational interviewing and Family-Based Therapy, Shelby believes in a holistic, personalized approach to nutrition. She is committed to providing culturally-responsive care and recognizes that nutrition is never “one-size-fits-all.”

Outside of her work, you’ll find Shelby enjoying the outdoors with her young son, hiking new trails, paddle boarding, or spending time with her family. She believes in the power of balance — in food, in health, and in life.
