I invited my niece to a Yoga class and she suggested hiking to a waterfall in Cave Creek. The Blue Wash trail was bone dry, so after we hiked 5.5 miles and we headed straight to Lake Pleasant! Our morning started at 5am to beat the Phoenix heat only for no waterfall 😭

Lake Pleasant is fed by the Colorado River and was crystal clear and so cold! A perfect detour on a hot summer’s day☀️

Just a couple days away from laying my mom to rest, after a week at the beach trying to catch my breath.

I pulled some tarot cards after spending time alone in her house, and somehow… it all feels aligned.

My heart aches with missing her, a void I know will never fully go away. But I can feel her with me. She’s already answered a few wishes from the other side. Somehow, she still feels so close… and yet so far.

I’ve been searching through every photo, video, and voicemail, anything to feel connected. But what echoes loudest are her lessons: her joy, her curiosity, the way she moved through the world with so much compassion.

Her favorite songs hit different now. I’ve been reading her poetry, wishing I could’ve known her when she was younger while holding deep gratitude for all the time we did have.

She is so, so special to me. Always will be.

PS Can’t wait to see you in my dreams, second star to the right ✨

Mae Thou Kanti Farewell Roadtrip 🤍

We stopped in New Orleans on the way to the ocean,
carrying more than bags
we are carrying grief, memory, and love stretched across generations.

This isn’t just a summer roadtrip.
It is a sacred return.

One year since my wife’s grandmother passed.
Soon, we will scatter her ashes into the sea,
a final release back to the Earth that held her.
And just one week from now, I will lay my own mama to rest.

And it hurts so much. A pain that pulses in the quiet.
No teachings
even those of impermanence
can take away the sting.
I sit with it. I breathe through it.
I keep moving, because love asks that of me.

This is not the end.
This is the middle of something eternal.
We are becoming.
Grieving.
Growing.
Letting go.
And returning again.

I gave everything I had for months, caring for my mom, supporting my dad, holding space for my family, my home, my students.
Grief, responsibility, and love stretched me to my edge . . . all while bracing for goodbye.

This morning , this week, I chose rest.

Thank you to my wife for booking our at-home massages and creating space for me to exhale.

A quiet moment on the massage table to remind my body it’s safe to soften again.

My name is Dominique. I am a Technical Recruitment Specialist with Walmart Headquarters.

I began learning about technology in the engineering space one year ago! It has been so fascinating to learn and speak with so many intelligent and talented individuals. From Cyber Security roles, to assisting with AML Technologist roles and even AI and Machine Learning. I have since joined so many tech groups on Linkedin and Facebook to gain more insight.

I was first exposed to STEM while I worked at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, in college. I was also a young mom at that time. It was such a joy to share my new found love for science with my little one. She joined me at star parties, received stuffed bacteria and viruses as gifts, and we even had an Squishy Human Body by SmartLab Toys.

Fast forward five years and she has been able to attend a Coding Camp at TCU, joined STEM clubs, and is currently in Gifted and Talented at her school. All because of my exposure to Science and Technology and being around some pretty amazing women who have followed their passions.
