🎉 BIG NEWS — WE’RE GROWING! 🎉

We’re excited to officially welcome Dr. Thomas George Jr., DPM to the Parr Foot & Ankle Specialists team! As our practice continues to expand, so does our commitment to delivering top-tier foot and ankle care to our community. We are truly grateful to welcome such an outstanding physician to our team and couldn’t be more excited to have Dr. George on board.
⬇️ Meet Dr. George below ⬇️

Dr. Thomas George Jr. is a board-qualified foot and ankle surgeon dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care with a focus on restoring mobility and improving quality of life.

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Dr. George grew up an avid sports fan and developed a strong sense of discipline and teamwork through his interests, including playing the drums, football and baseball.

He later moved to Texas to attend Texas A&M University, where his passion for healthcare and service was fostered. During his undergraduate years, he participated in a medical mission trip to Kenya, an experience that solidified his commitment to medicine and service.

Dr. George earned his medical degree from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, where he served as Vice President of the Phi Delta Honor Society and graduated among the top of his class.

He then completed his rigorous surgical residency training at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, a Level I Trauma Center, gaining extensive experience in complex foot and ankle pathology. His advanced training includes foot and ankle trauma, Charcot reconstruction, deformity correction, and limb salvage, allowing him to care for both routine and highly complex conditions with precision and confidence.

Outside of medicine, Dr. George enjoys spending time with his wife and family, staying active, traveling, and exploring new restaurants as a self-described foodie. He is deeply involved in the local communities where he and his wife have grown up and values building lasting relationships with his patients based on trust, education, and personalized care.

This painting was made by a patient who came to our office after going through major vascular challenges. When we met him, his other foot was at risk.

He and his wife worked incredibly hard and never stopped fighting. With their commitment—and a true team effort from our staff, wound care team, and vascular partners—we’ve been able to help save his remaining foot.

This painting made our day.

Chronic heel pain or tendinitis that hasn’t improved with rest, ice, or stretching is often more than “inflammation.” It’s usually a degenerative soft-tissue condition that needs a regenerative solution.

Peer-reviewed research—including studies published in the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery and a Stanford-led clinical investigation—shows that Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a highly successful, non-invasive treatment for chronic plantar fasciitis and tendinopathies.

ESWT has been shown to:
• Stimulate neo-vascularization
• Increase collagen regeneration
• Disrupt chronic inflammatory pathways
• Promote true tissue healing, not just temporary relief

When pain has lasted longer than 3 months, the evidence strongly supports shockwave as one of the most effective treatment options available. We see the same results every day in our clinic.

If conservative care hasn’t worked, ESWT may be the solution that finally does.

This 5th metatarsal came in swinging—literally. A shattered bone created by a large object crushing the foot, resulting in a small comminuted fragment that kept getting yanked by the peroneus brevis tendon as we were trying to pull in the opposite direction, making reduction a bit of a surgical tug-of-war. Persistence to achieve temporary fixation, stabilized with headless screws to the rescue for a clean, low-profile fix.

Thankfully, the 4th metatarsal behaved itself. Clean reduction, locking plate, done.

🎉 Parr Foot & Ankle Specialists turns 2! 🎉

Starting a practice truly felt like having a newborn... the sleepless nights, the planning, the worry, the hope, the "are we doing this right?" moments. July-November 2023 were the scariest months, building something from scratch and praying patients would trust us with their care. And now... our little clinic is officially a toddler. 💪👶
Walking, running, learning, growing - and occasionally throwing a tantrum (usually during insurance calls 😂).
Two years later, we're so grateful for this community. Thank you, Fort Worth, for trusting us with your foot & ankle care and helping this "toddler" grow strong.
Huge thank-you to our amazing team and everyone who has supported us along the way.
Here's to year three — big kid shoes coming soon. 👟 🧡

New term of the day learned from a great new patient today: Cuban heel. Stylish, yes — but not kind to painful feet. Support and style rarely get along in women’s shoes!

If you ever want to hear your podiatrist/dance dad mutter "poor metatarsals" under his breath, just say: "Dad, I’m going en pointe." 🤣 🩰👣

Shared with patient permission — this patient spends long days on his feet at the car dealership, but his severe bunion and crossover toe were making every step painful. After Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction, he’s back to walking comfortably and working pain-free! It’s the best feeling seeing patients walk out smiling. 👣
