The Story of Why Not You
“Why Not You” didn’t begin as a program it began as a purpose.
For years, I witnessed the silent struggles of young people who felt unseen, unheard, and unsure of their worth. But it wasn’t until I lost my own brother, Leo, to su***de that this mission became deeply personal. His death left a scar on my heart that words can’t fully explain, but it also lit a fire in my soul to prevent other families from experiencing that same kind of pain.
In the aftermath of his loss, I started asking questions that wouldn’t let me go:
Why do so many young people feel alone in a world full of people?
Why aren’t we equipping them with the tools to navigate their emotions, their identity, and their future?
Why not build something that gives them hope, healing, and the ability to believe in themselves again?
And then, it hit me:
Why not me?
Why not now?
Why not you?
That question—Why Not You—became a declaration. A challenge. A movement.
What started as a vision in the middle of heartbreak has grown into a nonprofit committed to su***de prevention, mental health awareness, and youth empowerment. We focus on preteens and teens, equipping them with coping skills, promoting self-care, and creating safe spaces for real conversations. Through workshops, school partnerships, mentorship, and community engagement, we meet them where they are—before crisis becomes tragedy.
“Why Not You” is more than a name. It’s a belief that every child, no matter their background or struggle, has purpose, potential, and power. And with the right support, they can rise—not just to survive, but to thrive.
This movement was born from pain—but it is fueled by love. And it will continue to grow because we believe that healing is possible, hope is real, and change begins when someone dares to ask:
Why not you?
