We would like to welcome medical oncologist Shifa Kanjwal, M.D., to our breast cancer team. Dr. Kanjwal sees breast cancer patients at the Cancer Care Outpatient Building in Dallas. She has a special interest in cancer survivorship and promoting equity in cancer care.

Dr. Kanjwal is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. When she’s not at work, Dr. Kanjwal enjoys exploring national parks, hiking, and traveling with her family.

Dr. Jones specializes in treating ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancer using targeted chemotherapy and minimally invasive robotic surgery. In addition to her areas of clinical focus, she also has a strong interest in surgical education and advancements in surgical curricula.

When she’s not at work, Dr. Jones enjoys spending time with her family and getting outdoors for camping, hiking, and skiing.

We were honored to collaborate with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to host our 2024 Pancreatic Cancer Patient Summit last weekend. This year’s theme was “Empowering Your Journey: Knowledge, Support, and Living Well.” This summit is to serve as a beacon of hope for patients, allowing them to connect, learn, and share with others who understand their journey.

We had many of our staff – from Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, and Supportive Care – present and engage with the audience. Thank you to all who attended!

During , Amit Singal, M.D., Medical Director of UTSW’s Liver Tumor Program and Chief of Hepatology, shares, “Texas has the highest burden of liver cancer in the U.S., largely related to frequent risk factors for underlying chronic liver disease. It’s critical that at-risk patients undergo screening to detect liver cancer at an early stage when curative therapies can be delivered to yield long-term survival.”
