We are saddened to hear of the loss of Fort Worth Fire Department Captain Daniel “Danny” Cearley. For many years, Danny worked alongside The Cowtown team to keep our runners and volunteers safe. His dedication and kindness touched countless lives, and he will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the FWFD community.

It is with profound sadness that the Fort Worth Fire Department announces the passing of Captain Daniel (Danny) Cearley after a tragic accident resulting from a fall. At the age of 50, Captain Cearley served the City of Fort Worth for 28 years. During his service, Captain Cearley not only was an exemplary firefighter and leader, but he also served as the special events coordinator for the Fire Department. He dedicated countless hours, behind the scenes, ensuring that residents and guests at all of Fort Worth’s events were safe.

Captain Cearley’s legacy with the Fort Worth Fire Department will not soon be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.

Our C.A.L.F. Grant Program Asics running shoes arrived! We will fit over 4,500 children with running shoes as they prepare for The Cowtown Kids 5K in February. 😃

Running in August in the Fort is no joke 🥵! Make sure to:
💧 hydrate before even beginning
💧 run more slowly
💧 carry water
💧 try to run in the morning or at night
💧 wear sun protection
