Don’t forget to treat your skin right this summer! ☀️ Here’s a quick list of the do’s and don’ts of summer skincare.

Do:
✅ Wear sunscreen (minimum SPF 30), even if you will be indoors. And don’t forget to reapply every two hours and after swimming.
✅ Use a good face and body moisturizer after you shower to help compensate for the drying effect of the sun/heat.
✅ UV radiation can cause premature skin aging. Adding an antioxidant like serum to your skincare routine can help prevent photoaging.
✅ Using a good lip balm will keep that perfect pout from chapping. 💋
✅ Hot showers can dry your skin more, so warm or cool showers are best.
✅ Try to stay out of direct sunlight when possible.
✅ Drink plenty of water 💧

Don’t:
🚫 Over cleansing can strip your face of essential oil and moisture making dryness worse.
🚫 Change out of workout attire soon after you are done exercising. Staying in sweaty or wet clothes for a prolonged time can create a bacteria-friendly environment leading to rashes or folliculitis. 🦠
🚫 If you’ve never used retinol before, now is not the time to start. Retinol will only increase skin’s sensitivity to the sun.
🚫 Don’t forget your hat when in direct sunlight.
🚫 Excessive exfoliation can compromise your skin barrier and make it more sensitive.

💪 If you are consistent with your use of retinol as well as judicious with your SPF application, you absolutely can continue your retinol throughout the summer months.

🚫 If you find yourself being a little less consistent with your retinol or SPF, it may be a good idea to switch to glycolic acid. You can continue getting some of the same benefits as retinol without increasing your risk for sensitivity to the sun.
