Just sitting around thinking. This day was a turning point in the world. Thinking of my dad. He was in WWII as a tail gunner in a B25. He was in the South Pacific. I never knew what he went through in the war. He never talked about that time in his life. Sheri never got to meet him because he had a massive heart attack as I was driving back from Shreveport and I plan to tell him about her that week. Got a call from Harris Southwest and they told me I needed to come to the hospital ASAP. I arrived and he had already passed. The doctor told me what happened and they had preformed a x-ray of his legs after other diagnostic tests. When they saw a few bright spots they went ahead and took x-rays of both his legs. There were hundreds of pieces of shrapnel in his legs from where his boomer had been hit. It probably was right where he was sitting most likely. His brother , uncle Richard, was a lifer In the navy and told me a lot of the stories of his combat. Today I understand a lot of the issues my dad had were most likely Post Traumatic stress syndrome for his Army Air Force years. I really don’t think anyone understands how remarkable , as well as brave these men were. Where are we now? What happened that we have lost brave people like my dad and can’t remember what they sacrificed for all of us. Hope my dad is up there still shootin em down. 🧡
