Say Howdy to Danielle McDonnell, our Referral Network Liaison! 🤩

Danielle’s ophthalmology journey started 13 years ago at the front desk, and since then she’s done it all—tech work, surgical counseling, and now building strong connections with OD offices to better serve our patients.

Her passion? Helping patients feel at ease, solving problems, and teaching others. Whether she’s guiding a patient through an upcoming procedure or training a partner office, Danielle brings warmth, patience, and expertise to every interaction.

Outside of work, she’s all about family life with her husband, Brad, their 9-month-old son, Matthew, and her bonus son, Clark. You might also find her curled up with a good whodunit, hanging out with friends, or tackling a home renovation project with her “very handy” husband. 🛠️

We’re so lucky to have Danielle leading with heart and helping AVI grow every day! 💙

Meet Alexis Barfield, our call team lead—and resident multitasker, toddler wrangler, and former rodeo queen! 🐴

Born and raised in Fort Worth, Alexis joined our team a year ago, and she’ll be the first to tell you it’s been one of the best chapters of her life. Each day, she leads a team that’s positive, driven, and makes coming to work feel less like a job and more like a privilege (even on the days when coffee is the only thing holding it all together).

Before finding her home with AVI, Alexis started out in dental assisting but quickly realized teeth weren’t her calling—eyes and amazing coworkers were. 😉 We’re pretty glad she made the switch.

Outside of work, life is a “beautiful chaos.” Alexis has been engaged to her fiancé, Seth, for six years (yes, wedding planning is still…in progress) and together they’re raising sweet Weston, who turns two in September and is the absolute center of their world. She’s also a proud dog mom to two very spoiled mini dachshunds, Tillie and Winnie.

Fun fact: Alexis used to rodeo all through high school—and even after graduation. These days, the only chasing she does is after Weston, but she wouldn’t trade it for anything.

We’re so grateful for Alexis’ humor, heart, and the way she makes our patients (and all of us) feel at ease.

Say hi to Amy! Another one of our amazing RN’s at Precision Ambulatory Surgery Center!

Amy grew up in Joshua, Texas, where her days were filled with horseback riding, camping, and cheering on the sidelines. Her love for the outdoors hasn’t changed—she still enjoys sunny afternoons by the pool, gardening, and taking daily walks with her dogs.

Married for over 20 years to her husband, a dedicated firefighter/paramedic, Amy is also a proud mom and grandma. Together, they’ve raised a blended family of energetic boys, including Drew, who’s currently serving full-time in the U.S. Air Force.

Amy began her nursing career later in life and has worked in many settings, from behavioral health to hospital dialysis. For the past five years, she’s focused on surgery recovery—passionately helping patients transition safely and confidently after surgery.

Whether she’s exploring new hiking trails with her husband or educating patients on how to care for themselves after a procedure, Amy brings compassion, warmth, and steady support to everyone she meets.

We’re so grateful for Amy and the exceptional care she provides for all of our patients!

Annual injuries from fireworks in the United States sit at around 10,500. Those injured by fireworks are not always handling the explosives. Nearly half of all injured by fireworks are bystanders. Children are frequent victims, with 35% being age 15 and under.

So, if you decide to handle fireworks, use caution and wear protective eye wear.

Seek medical attention immediately.
Do not rub your eyes.
Do not rinse your eyes.
Do not apply pressure.
Do not remove any objects that are stuck in the eye.
Do not apply ointments or take any blood-thinning pain medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen.

Have a happy and safe Independence holiday!!

Cha Cha now ya'll! Say howdy to Dr. Cha, another one of our dedicated and thoughtful optometrists here at AVI!

Born and raised in Houston, Dr. Cha grew up in a NASA household (literally—his dad was an engineer!) but found his true calling in medicine. Today, he brings compassion, curiosity, and a deep love for helping patients see the world more clearly.

When he’s not in the clinic, Dr. Cha is all about faith, food, and family. He recently married his best friend, Katlynn, and they live a cozy life with their two fur babies, Bean and Mochi. He’s a self-proclaimed tech and movie buff who’s always planning his next meal (and next outreach project through church!).

Dr. Cha originally considered following his father’s path into aerospace, but we’re so glad he followed his heart to ophthalmology instead. His love for people—and for walking with them through their health journey—shines through in everything he does.

We’re grateful for Dr. Cha’s servant heart, humble spirit, and the joy he brings to AVI every single day.

Dr. Haley Crudgington in the house! Dr. C is one of our compassionate and dedicated optometrists at AVI!

Originally from Midland, Michigan, Dr. Crudgington was inspired to pursue optometry by the kindness and care she received from her childhood eye doctor. Now, she brings that same excellent care to every patient she sees—making sure they feel seen, valued, and understood.

Dr. C gets the most joy out of watching patients experience the joy of clear vision after surgery—it never gets old! She believes kindness is one of the most powerful tools in and out of the exam room.

Dr. C is married to her husband, Andrew, a local firefighter, and they’re proud dog parents to Saxon and Winnie. She loves cooking (especially baking sourdough!), exploring new restaurants, and dreams of traveling to Italy and Japan one day.

Whether she’s helping patients or hosting friends, she finds joy in life’s most meaningful little moments—and we’re so lucky to have her on our team!
