Vertigo is a type of dizziness characterized by a sensation of spinning or whirling, even when you are stationary. It often feels like the room is spinning around you or that you are spinning yourself. Vertigo can result from various underlying causes, including inner ear problems such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis, Meniere's disease, or certain neurological conditions. Symptoms of vertigo may also include nausea, vomiting, imbalance, and difficulty focusing or walking. Treatment for vertigo depends on its underlying cause and may include vestibular rehabilitation exercises, medications, maneuvers to reposition displaced inner ear crystals, lifestyle modifications, or surgical interventions in some cases.

🤯 Did You Know? Vertigo & Headaches Are Connected 🤯
Vertigo and headaches can actually feed off each other. When your system is irritated, it can trigger dizziness and head pain at the same time.

For some people, headaches can lead to vertigo. For others, dizziness can make headaches worse. It becomes a cycle that’s hard to break.

The good news 👇
With the right assessment and targeted treatment, you can calm the system and reduce both symptoms.

🎯 You don’t have to live in that cycle.

When you feel dizzy, the instinct is to freeze, sit still, and avoid anything that might trigger it again. That makes sense.

But for many people, too much avoidance teaches your brain that normal movements are “dangerous,” which can increase sensitivity over time and keep dizziness hanging around.

A better approach is usually:

Move within a safe range (no pushing into panic levels)
Gradually reintroduce triggers with guidance
Train the system with the right balance, gaze, and head movement exercises

If dizziness has you avoiding daily activities, you are not alone, and you are not stuck.

If you have dizziness or vertigo, a vestibular PT visit is usually very structured and specific, not a random workout.

Here’s what often happens:

Your story and symptom patterns
When it happens, what triggers it, how long it lasts, what makes it better or worse.

Safety screen
Checking for red flags and making sure you are in the right place for care.

Targeted testing
Eyes, balance, walking, and head movement tests to pinpoint which system is involved.

Treatment the same day
This may include positional techniques (if appropriate), gaze stability work, balance drills, and gentle exposure exercises.

Home plan
Simple, specific exercises plus clear do’s and don’ts so you feel confident between visits.

Goal: fewer episodes, faster recovery, and steadier walking in real life.
