"They keep increasing my blood pressure meds, but nothing's changing."
If this sounds familiar, I want you to know: you're not broken. And you're not doing anything wrong.
Here's what I've noticed working with people just like you: When blood pressure won't respond to medication, it's often because we're treating the downstream effect—but missing the upstream cause.
Your nervous system.
Stay with me: Your brain controls your cardiovascular system. When your nervous system has been running hot for years (stress, trauma, constant mental load, never really feeling safe to rest), your body stays in a protective state. Blood vessels stay constricted. Heart rate stays elevated.
You can add all the medication in the world, but if your brain is still signaling "threat," your body will keep responding accordingly.
This isn't about blame. It's about understanding that your body is doing exactly what it thinks it needs to do to keep you safe. It just hasn't gotten the memo that it's okay to relax now.
I'm not saying ditch your medication—please don't do that without your doctor. But I am saying: what if we helped your nervous system remember how to regulate itself? What if we addressed the stress patterns that are keeping your BP elevated?
That's what brain-based care does. We work WITH your body's wisdom, not against it.
