Memorial Day weekend is here! As we gather with family and fire up the grill, let’s also take a moment to remember those who are no longer at the table — and the veterans who gave everything for our freedom. 🇺🇸 We honor them all.

When families begin making arrangements for a loved one, one of the first decisions they often consider is burial or cremation.

Both options allow families to honor a life in meaningful ways.

⚰️Burial
• Typically includes a funeral or visitation
• The loved one is laid to rest in a cemetery
• Provides a physical place for family and friends to visit and remember

⚱️Cremation
• Your loved one is respectfully cremated
• Families may hold a funeral service or memorial gathering before or after cremation
• Ashes can be kept, buried, or placed in a meaningful location

💡What many people don’t realize is that a ceremony can be held with either option.

Gathering together to share memories, celebrate a life, and support one another is often one of the most meaningful parts of honoring a loved one.

Every family is different, and the right choice is the one that best reflects the wishes and values of your loved one.

🤍 Our team is always here to help guide families through these decisions with care and compassion.

Grief doesn’t announce itself. It arrives in the middle of the grocery store, during a song, on a random Monday. Those moments aren’t setbacks — they’re love surfacing. Let it. 🤍

If someone you love is grieving a loved one this week, you don't need the perfect words. Just say: 'I'm thinking of you today.' Sometimes showing up — even in a text — is everything.

Or you can share this post to let them know you care and are there.

Happy Mother's Day to every mom being celebrated today. 🌸

And to those for whom today feels heavy — we see you, too.

Whether you're missing your mother, grieving the loss of a child, or simply carrying something heavy today — your heart is not forgotten. Mother's Day holds both joy and sorrow, and we honor all of it.

To every mother remembered today, and every heart that misses one — you are in our prayers. 🤍

From our family at Brown, Owens & Brumley to yours — Happy Mother's Day!

If you or someone you love is navigating loss, here are a few gentle reminders that may help:

1. There is no "right" way to grieve. Sadness, numbness, even moments of laughter — all of it is valid. Grief looks different for everyone.

2. Let people show up for you. Accepting help isn't weakness. It's one of the most human things we can do.

3. Take it one hour at a time. You don't have to have it all figured out. The next hour is enough.

4. Physical care matters. Grief lives in the body. Eating, resting, and stepping outside — even briefly — can make a difference.

5. It's okay to ask for professional support. Grief counselors and support groups exist for exactly this. You don't have to carry it alone.

Our team at Brown, Owens & Brumley is always here. In a season of grief, we are honored to walk alongside you — helping you arrange a meaningful tribute to the life of your loved one. We're your neighbors, and we care.

Every family remembers their loved ones in their own special way.

For some, it’s gathering together each year to share stories.
For others, it’s cooking a favorite recipe, visiting a special place, or simply keeping their memory alive through everyday moments.

These traditions can be a beautiful way to continue honoring the lives that shaped us.

💬 What is one meaningful way your family remembers a loved one?

Some of the bravest people we know are the ones quietly carrying grief while still showing up for their families, their jobs, their lives — every single day. We see you, and we honor you.

Tip: It’s okay — and actually really helpful — to bring a trusted friend or family member to a funeral arrangement meeting.

Having someone with you can ease the weight, help you remember details, and make the whole process feel less overwhelming.

Well… you voted… and we are so excited to introduce you to our newest little team member, Stormi! 🐾

Stormi has already started her emotional support animal training, and we couldn't be more proud of her. Whether it's during an arrangement consultation or a funeral service, you just might see our girl Stormi nearby — ready to offer a gentle nudge, a warm presence, and a little unconditional love to our families when they need it most.

We believe that healing looks different for everyone, and sometimes the most comforting thing in the world is the quiet companionship of a furry friend. That's why at Brown, Owens & Brumley, we go beyond the expected — because your family deserves care that truly surrounds you.

Come meet Stormi. We'd be honored to walk alongside you. 🤍
