Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is one of several ways we treat precancer (actinic keratosis). When we treat an entire area, it’s called field therapy. This helps reduce the number of lesions that must be frozen or biopsied. It also helps prevent progression of the lesions to skin cancers. If you’ve had too much sun in your lifetime, ask me about PDT. Treatment available to my Longhorn fans and Aggies alike, but as a UT graduate, I do love this photo!

Posted with patient consent. 85 year old female with chronic redness and irritation in the corner of her lip. Patient was treated but the problem always recurred. Bloodwork revealed a deficiency of a key vitamin. What is your diagnosis? Looking for the name of the skin condition. What nutritional deficiency might be associated? Answer will be posted tomorrow.
