Happy Mother’s Day to all the strong and beautiful moms and moms-to-be 🫶🫶🫶

We know Mother’s Day can be a time of celebration, reflection, grieving and healing for:

❣️those who are grieving the loss of their mom
❣️women who desire to have children and have experienced infertility
❣️single moms holding it all together without the support they deserve
❣️mothers who are suffering the loss of a child
❣️grandmothers who have raised their grandchildren
❣️those healing from wounds of a mother who did not have the capacity to love and nurture them
❣️women who have raised and loved children as their own

Congrats to our beloved for her Emmy! She shared the amazing story of baby gorilla 🦍 Jameela’s delivery at the Fort Worth Zoo on CBS News Texas made possible by our own Dr. Jamie Erwin earlier this year.

👀 something shiny was delivered to my desk at CBS News Texas …

My first Emmy!!

Beyond thrilled and humbled to receive this award for a story that meant so much to me professionally and personally!

When I heard the Fort Worth Zoo had a baby gorilla born by c-section, I knew it was a huge story.

When I heard, Dr. Erwin with Vivi Women's Health performed the surgery, I knew I wanted to be the one to tell the story.

Dr. Erwin told me in the interview, her love for women knows no bounds… even if it means crossing over into a new species to help a mom in need.

I knew Dr. Erwin’s love and care for women personally.

About a year earlier, Dr. Erwin had identified a rare pregnancy complication at my 20 week anatomy scan and delivered my son into the world via c section. Her diagnosis and care saving Charles’ life.

That same brilliant mind and the same skilled hands were now credited with diagnosing and operating on a gorilla… saving both mom & baby’s life.

Incredible!!

I was honored to tell Dr. Erwin’s story and I’m so very proud of the recognition it received!

A huge thank you to Vince (photographer) & Mike (Editor) who brought this story to life with their time and talents. I’ll also always be grateful to Ginger (Assistant News Director) who had the patience of a saint and worked through multiple drafts and edits with me! This story was a team effort and I’m so grateful for everyone who believed in it as much as I did! ❤️
