Our Story
Cancer is the number one disease-related cause of death in adolescents and young adults ages 15 to 39. While there has been an improvement in survival outcomes in pediatric and older adult cancer patients over the past 30 years, AYAs have seen minimal improvements. Why? This age group is burdened with disparities within our health care system, which can include access to care, limited resources and a lack of age-appropriate support.
We’re here to change that.
The Fort Worth Adolescents and Young Adult (AYA) Oncology Coalition is a community network of AYAs, health professionals and invested individuals who are working together to support young people before, during and after a cancer diagnosis. We're committed to ensuring that all AYAs diagnosed with cancer in our community receive comprehensive and age appropriate care of the highest standard via access to health services, education, support and resources. We will support health care professionals and create awareness in the community surrounding the unique needs of AYAs.
