DALLAS ZOO CERTIFIED AS SENSORY INCLUSIVE: We believe that everyone should be able to come to the Zoo, connect with animals and nature, and have a positive, enjoyable experience! That's why we've partnered with KultureCity to ensure that our campus as well as our programs and events are all sensory inclusive, for those with conditions like autism, dementia or PTSD, or anyone who may be sensitive to over-stimulation and noise.
To become certified, our staff members were trained by leading medical professionals on how to recognize guests with sensory needs, and how to handle a sensory overload situation. Sensory bags, equipped with noise-canceling headphones (provided by Puro Sound Labs), fidget tools, verbal cue cards (produced in conjunction with Boardmaker), and weighted lap pads will also be available to those who may feel overwhelmed by the environment.
