In May 2023, Savion Williams and his wife, Jorden, welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world named Legacy Lee Williams. Three months later, Legacy went into heart failure.

❤ This serious congenital heart condition, atrioventricular canal defect, required complex care and constant monitoring. In addition to battling the challenges of prematurity, she underwent both abdominal and heart surgeries at Cook Children’s.

For months, her parents watched her fight through setbacks and small victories, clinging to every encouraging update from her care team.

💙 In August 2024, her family celebrated a powerful milestone: her one-year “heartiversary,” one year since her successful heart surgery. That anniversary isn’t just a date on the calendar. It’s a reminder of the countless hours of specialized care, the advanced technology and the compassionate support that helped Legacy not only survive, but begin to thrive.

There are so many more families with circumstances like the Williams’. Thanks to the supporters of Cook Children’s, children with complex medical needs receive world-class care regardless of how complicated or scary their diagnosis may be.

The 25th annual Cookies and Castles, hosted by the Fort Worth Delta Delta Delta Alumnae Group, gives participants the chance to create their own gingerbread house masterpieces - complete with a dreamy buffet of candy to decorate with!
