They compassionately care for all ages and spiritual identities while providing resources such as sacred texts, religious-based dietary options, prayer supplies, grief support and more.

Stella comes to Cook Children's to treat thalassemia, a rare blood disorder that can lead to anemia. Her monthly blood transfusions mean she quickly developed a bond with her care team over the past three years.

🏠 “They want us to feel comfortable and at home. We know several of the nurses so it’s like having a reunion every month when we come back,” says Stella’s mom.

At each visit, she looks forward to catching up with her favorite nurses and Child Life staff. She never misses a chance to do arts and crafts in the infusion clinic or hang out in the patient activity room.

🧶The dependable care she receives means Stella’s blood disorder doesn’t control her life. She’s able to throw herself into the things she loves, like reading, crocheting and swimming. She also has spent the last year as an advocate for Cook Children’s, attending events and telling her story to thank those that support us so generously.

Oh, what a night! Party on the Patio guests raised a record setting total to benefit the Child Study Center at Cook Children’s! Their support allows children with complex developmental and behavioral disabilities to reach their full potential.

Child Study Center at Cook Children’s (CSC) provides children with complex developmental and behavioral disabilities the highest quality treatment and education to help them achieve their full potential.

Earlier this week, Cook Children’s hosted 300 guests at Joe T. Garcia’s for Party on the Patio, complete with a silent and live auction, delicious food and drinks and moments of magic for everyone – all supporting families like Ashley, Tim and their son Jack!

Meet Patient Ambassador, David!

💜 When David was born early with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, he was immediately brought to the Cook Children’s NICU for the first of three open heart surgeries that he would need before turning four years old. Grateful and relieved by the successful treatment, David’s parents knew that Cook Children’s would always be a part of their life.

Growing up, David acquired a long list of staff friends, spanning the many specialties that provide custom care for the areas impacted by his heart condition.

💪 “Cook Children’s is more than a hospital to me- it is our lifeline. As a mom, trusting someone with your child’s life is everything, and Cook Children’s gave us hope, compassion and strength when we needed it most.” Says Erika, David’s mom

Now at age 11, David is a bubbly, fun-loving boy, and he is thriving thanks to the complete care he receives at Cook Children’s. He loves the games and books provided by our Child Life team, attends unique patient events and greets staff on every floor.
