Ah, the dreaded ankle sprain!
So easy to suffer, but such a nuisance!
How can chiropractic help?
Ankle sprains are often classified as either type 1, type 2, or type 3, with the last, of course, being the most severe.
When one experiences an ankle sprain, regardless of classified type, the ligaments in the ankle are now misaligned – something that many traditional doctors and rehabs don’t consider.
Chiropractic can help through adjustment and strengthening exercises, to realign the affected ligaments and increase the overall mobility of the ankle.
Because who really has time to wait for the sprain to heal itself?

Did you know that concussion symptoms can be directly related to a lingering neck injury?

When a person sustains a concussive injury to the brain, the concussion occurs through the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the brain at the point of impact.

But, at the same time the brain is impacted, the neck moves with it, which results in whiplash.

So, when concussion symptoms don’t subside after 2-4 weeks as they normally do, it may be because you haven’t yet treated the injury to your neck.

If you or anyone you know is experiencing persistent concussion symptoms, come visit us and we’d be happy to work through some exercises with you that you can do from home!

More often than not, back pain is not the result of some underlying disease, but is instead the result of doing things that we can easily avoid doing…
Examples include overuse or misuse of the back muscles, such as working out or lifting too much, prolonged sitting and lying down, sleeping in an uncomfortable position, or wearing a poorly fitting backpack.
You’ve heard it before – lift with your legs, not your back!
You’ll avoid a great deal of trouble if you do ;)

The treatment concept of the chiropractor is to re-establish normal spinal mobility.

What does that mean?

Simply that, when the spinal cord is misaligned, the body does not function at its best.

You may be experiencing a problem or symptom, right now, related to spinal cord misalignment – you may have muscle spasms, tension, back pain – these problems may even have happened at birth or during a pregnancy.

If you’re experiencing anything that feels…off…just drop a question in the comments below and we’ll let you know (honestly) if we think chiropractic can help :)

Sometimes, a patient’s spine may be aligned, but the patient is still experiencing symptoms of discomfort, most commonly related to carpal tunnel or posture.

In cases of this sort, what we tend to observe is that joints elsewhere in the body are causing undue pressure on the spine, which in turn limits bodily mobility.

To treat this effectively, we use a technique called Extremity Manipulation to align the affected joints outside the spinal area.

Give us a call or comment below if you’d like to learn more :)

Here’s a little etymological knowledge to start your day:

Chiro comes from the Greek word for ‘hand’ and ‘practor’ from the Greek word meaning ‘practical’.

That means we have practical hands…

Before we work any magic on our patients, we strive to make sure that we understand them and their unique situations – everybody is different, and what might work on some may not work on others.

In a nutshell, our process looks like this:

First, we conduct a thorough medical history of the patient.

Then, we look at your vital signs – namely body temperature, pulse, breathing rate, and blood pressure.

After that, we visually inspect for spinal curves or other visible health indicators.

Once we’ve inspected visually, we use our hands to feel out your spine and the muscles and other soft tissues that support it.

Lastly, we conduct orthopedic and neurological examinations – fancy terms for assessing the function of your spine, joints, and muscles, and the function of your motor and sensory systems.

We are quite thorough ;)

It is not uncommon that the pain you may feel in your body is attributable to lingering neck pain.

Here’s an easy, but helpful way to stretch your neck – and you can do it anywhere, anytime.

Gently bend the head forward, bringing the chin toward the chest until a stretch is felt in the back of the neck.

It’s that easy!
