One small thing that changes a lot:

pausing.

Before reacting.
Before eating.
Before speaking.
Before saying yes automatically.

Awareness creates space.

And space creates choice.

This episode with personal growth coach Naomi Bareket touches on relationships, shame, fulfillment, desire, and the disconnect that happens when people stop feeling aligned with themselves.

Also… the nervous system tends to appreciate the pause too.

One thing I think many women experience in midlife:

we become very skilled at serving everyone else.

Family.
Work.
Relationships.
Responsibilities.

And somewhere in there, it becomes easy to lose connection with our own spark.

This conversation explores identity, fulfillment, joy, and the idea that every person carries something uniquely theirs to express.

Not perform.

Not prove.

Express.

A thoughtful conversation with personal growth coach Naomi Bareket about reconnecting with yourself beyond automatic patterns and expectations.

My wonderful ta**ra teachers, Dr. Elsbeth Meuth and Freddy Zental Weaver.

Michael and I attended two couples workshops with them, and I also did Elsbeth’s “Awaken to Your Feminine Essence” workshop for women.

Honestly… deeply transformative work.

Not in a dramatic “become a different person overnight” kind of way.

More like opening up parts of yourself that had quietly been waiting for attention.

Energy.
Presence.
Self-expression.
Connection.

And maybe learning that peace in the body is not something we force.
It’s something we allow.

They’re part of an upcoming event called the Shameless Summit, which focuses on intimacy, embodiment, relationships, confidence, and authentic self-expression.

If this kind of work speaks to you, I’d absolutely encourage you to explore it.

One definition of grief that completely changed the way I think about it:

“Conflicting feelings caused by the end or change in a familiar pattern.”

That explains so much about midlife.

Because often we’re holding multiple truths at once.

Sadness and relief.
Gratitude and anger.
Love and frustration.

And none of that means something is wrong with you.

It means you’re human.

A really meaningful conversation about grief, transition, and how we move through change with more compassion for ourselves.

Unresolved grief can show up physically.

Fatigue.
Anxiety.
Loss of desire.
Disconnection from the body.
Difficulty feeling joy.

Sound familiar?

Many of these overlap with hormonal changes in midlife, which means grief is often woven into the experience more than we realize.

This is exactly why conversations about women’s health have to include emotional health too.

The body keeps participating in the story.

When people hear the word grief, they usually think of death or divorce.

But midlife brings many quieter forms of loss too.

A changing body.
Children leaving home.
Loss of energy.
Loss of fertility.
Shifts in identity, purpose, relationships, or health.

And sometimes… grief shows up before anything is technically “gone.”

So many women experience these transitions without realizing how deeply they affect us emotionally and physically.

A thoughtful and compassionate episode about grief, hormones, identity, and midlife change.

At the medical museum in Copenhagen.

This entire outfit is made of pills.

As a physician, I found it fascinating… and also a little confronting.

To me, it’s a reminder that medications are tools—not the whole story.

Sometimes we use prescriptions as Band-Aids for symptoms, while the deeper issue quietly waits underneath.

Of course medications can be life-changing and absolutely necessary.

But long-term health also asks for something more:
understanding the root cause, supporting the body, and paying attention to the bigger picture.

Also… this may be the most expensive dress I’ve ever stood next to 😄

One of the more fascinating parts of this conversation with Dr. Karin Sponholz:

the discussion around overthinking, trauma, and what happens when the mind finally quiets down enough for the body and emotions to speak.

We talk about ketamine therapy, nervous system healing, and why so many people—especially high-functioning overthinkers—struggle to access what they’re actually feeling.

A nuanced and deeply thoughtful conversation about healing beyond logic alone.

One thing I appreciated in this conversation with psychologist Dr. Karin Sponholz:

how healing is often built through very small moments.

Not dramatic breakthroughs.

Small grounding practices.
Breathing.
Orienting yourself to the present.

Even something as simple as naming what you see around you out loud can help interrupt spiraling and bring the nervous system back into the moment.

The body responds to safety slowly.

And that’s okay.

One of the hardest parts about trauma and chronic stress is this:

your body can still react
even when your logical mind knows you’re safe.

That disconnect is exhausting.

In this episode of Hotness, I’m joined by Dr. Karin Sponholz, a clinical psychologist with nearly 30 years of experience helping people heal from trauma and complex relational challenges.

We talk about grounding, nervous system regulation, breathwork, and learning how to reconnect with the present moment gently—not forcefully.

A really thoughtful conversation about healing, patience, and working with the body instead of against it.
