Miguel Canales, MD, Medical Director of Restoration Robotics, performs the world’s first robotic hair transplantation on a human subject in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Canales performs robotic harvesting, recipient site making and implantation using the prototype system.
2007 - Miguel Canales, MD publishes the first article on the use of robotics in hair restoration (“The Age of Surgical Robots”) opening a new era in hair transplantation. Dr. Canales presents the preliminary findings and investigations of robotic hair transplantation at the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeon Annual Congress (Las Vegas, NV)
2008 - Miguel Canales, MD leads a team of clinical investigators to perform the FDA clinical trials for the 510(k) clearance of the ARTAS Robotic System
2011 - Dr. Canales launches the ARTAS Robotic System in the USA by training and educating the first physicians in the USA.
2012 - Dr. Canales leads the commercialization efforts of the ARTAS Robotic System by training and educating the first physicians in South Korea and Japan performing the firsts robotic hair transplantation surgeries in Asia.
2013 - Dr. Canales leads the commercialization efforts of the ARTAS Robotic System by training and educating the first physicians in Europe and the U.K. performing the first robotic hair transplantation surgeries in Europe.
2014 - Canales leads the commercialization efforts of the ARTAS Robotic System by training and educating the first physicians in Latin America.
2015 - Dr. Canales performs the first robotically-enabled graft implantations with the ARTAS Robotic System
