I graduated myself out of cardiac rehab today. I didn't have to do it for this long, but the folks at Winona health were really friendly and it was a fun place to go. I'm in a pretty good exercise routine these days, and I don't think I would be without those folks. I'm very appreciative of them all.

I'm back to work. It takes up too much time. Now it's harder to work in chores, exercise, visiting the parents, hobby stuff and so on. It's not an improvement.

But the surgery is pretty much behind me. Sternum has another month or so before it's completely healed, but pain is gone and I'm not limited much.

I expected to be bed ridden for a while, and thought I'd have little energy for much besides posting cat pictures where for a while. But, as it turned out I never was. I certainly took some naps and rested in bed some, but walked away from the hospital without major issues, really.

So, all went great. Thanks for watching :D

Here is a health update. And some pictures of Arnie, which is really why we're all here. I mowed the lawn today, kind of a rookie mistake to tell Kim I could do it. I know it's just a rider mower, but I was worried about the steering wheel and my sternum. But the sternum is healing up real well. Sneezing really sucks still, that hurts, but otherwise I have good range of motion and can do most things. A while ago I got into a painful period, but that's over. The nurse at rehab says it was my young healthy nerves letting me know they were still working. Lots of people she deals with aren't so lucky to have healthy nervous systems. Yes, in this context I am young and in fairly good shape. Comparatively speaking.

So it's been far more of a smooth ride than I could have hoped for. I took down two ash trees last fall, and have two more that need to come down. But I'm not doing that type of work until next year. And I'll stay off the motorcycle until this fall if not next year. So still being careful until everything's fully healed, but I'm starting to be able to pull my weight around the house. I'll be going back to work on July 5.

HealthPartners denied a bunch of my claims and says I owe $172,000 on the heart surgery. I'm pretty sure it's just a paperwork snafu, but I hate calling customer service. I may just pay $50 a month, then they'll have to keep me alive for 286 years to get their money back. Checkmate

Keeping Dad company.

I'm into a patch of rib and chest pain. It might be the nerves they cut when they opened the sternum healing back together and causing pain as they reconnect. Either way, it's a good excuse to lay with my cat and chill. I'm still walking a couple times today, which easy to do when the weather is so perfect.
