Another year at ILEETA in the books… and every time I walk away reminded of one thing:

This profession is bigger than any one instructor, agency, or curriculum.

This week was about more than teaching.
It was about learning.
It was about connection.
It was about sharpening the edge.

I had the opportunity to stand in front of incredible instructors and share what we do at Guardian Training & Consulting… but just as important, I sat in the seats as a student. Taking notes. Asking questions. Challenging my own thinking.

Because no matter where you’re at in your career…
you’re either growing or you’re falling behind.

The real value of ILEETA isn’t just the content.
It’s the people.

Old friends. New relationships. Conversations in hallways that matter just as much as anything taught on a range or in a classroom.

To everyone I trained with, learned from, and spent time with this week… I appreciate you.

We don’t teach curriculum.
We teach people.

Always a student. Sometimes a teacher.

Former police officer and use of force expert Josh Logan weighs in on the tragic shooting of a Mesa mother of seven that occurred on February 28, 2026.

In this video, Josh analyzes the facts currently known in the case involving Arizona Attorney General’s Office Special Agent Dulance Morin and the fatal shooting of Maria Lewis outside Morin’s home in Mesa, Arizona.

Newly released witness video captured approximately 40 seconds of screaming moments before the shooting, which investigators believe involved an argument between Lewis and her husband shortly before she approached Morin’s residence.

Mesa Police have recommended negligent homicide charges against Morin. According to investigators, Morin reported that Lewis was banging on his door and allegedly claimed she had a gun after he warned that he was armed. Morin later told detectives he does not remember opening the door or pulling the trigger, but acknowledged the shot was fired from his hand.

In this breakdown, Josh discusses:

Went out to support Carrie Hirshberg of Hirshberg Performance & crew at Art of the Cowgirl. The crew introduced many women to the sport of Mounted Shooting from a seminar on riding and shooting, as well as gear, and finally ground shooting the guns.

I was asked to help on the gun station.

Of course after all the ladies shot the balloons, I asked if I could do something I’ve never done and only dreamed of doing…. Fanning a single action revolver to shoot the balloons. One run, no practice. Performance on demand.

What are you doing today to prepare for tomorrow? This is Guardian Training & Consulting’s (GTC) mission statement.

Guardian Training & Consulting’s founders, Instructor J a United States Air Force veteran, current law enforcement officer, and fi****ms instructor and Instructor Karen, formerly of Chicago Police Department and Federal Air Marshal Service and fi****ms instructor brings over 30 years of combined military and law enforcement experience. Both Karen and J have worked the streets of their respective cities, criminal investigations, and instruction ranging from defensive tactics both armed and unarmed, fi****ms and tactics, as well as active shooter response both for law enforcement and citizens alike.

We believe in keeping our citizens, families, first responders, and yourself safe. We first and foremost are not a tactical company. We are a training and consulting firm.

Training in the form of safety training that can include awareness and personal security lectures, discussions, and roundtables to start. If you wish to take your personal security to the next level, conceal carry weapon classes that provide law and legal lessons on Arizona state laws and case law for use of force incidents. After this, if you wish to pursue fi****ms or tactics training, Guardian Training & Consulting’s founders are both qualified and experienced law enforcement and NRA Fi****ms Instructors. The tactics training portion of our portfolio includes active shooter response (both unarmed and armed response), home safety plans, and fi****ms tactics. Lastly, our Realtor Safety Course is taking the Phoenix area by storm. This 3 hour lecture is not a self defense “karate” course or simply a course to tell you to put your phone down and be “more aware”. This course includes topics such as criminal mindset and current crime trends, awareness, mental conditioning, safe practices in real estate, physical and cyber security, properly calling 911, and a questions and answers period.
