So… What does real-world enrichment-based training actually look like? 👇
This morning with Poppy at Saguaro Lake, training meant learning in partnership with the environment - navigating new sights, sounds, and scents, practicing calm movement, and building confidence in a new space.
Rather than relying on drills or artificial setups, enrichment-based training uses real-life experiences to teach skills that matter in everyday situations. We focus on:
• exploration and sniffing
• thoughtful engagement with the environment
• emotional regulation in new spaces
• confidence problem-solving
• behaviors that translate outside of training sessions
And so much more…
When dogs feel safe, comfortable, and supported, they’re better able to focus, learn, and retain new skills. This leads to more reliable behavior in the places clients actually care about: on walks, in public spaces, and at home.
This approach is especially effective for dogs who struggle with overstimulation, uncertainty, or inconsistent behavior in new environments, and for guardians who want training that works beyond the average living room training session.
