Have you heard of cortisol? Sometimes it’s referred to as the “fight-or-flight” hormone.
Cortisol is important as our stress hormone, but also helps regulate blood pressure and blood sugar crashes. And when cortisol is struggling, we often see the other adrenal hormones struggling.
- Have you ever stood up and suddenly become dizzy? Cortisol is likely insufficient enough to help regulate the pressure changes in your bloodstream to ensure enough is getting to your brain.
- Not a morning person? Rely on caffeine to get by? Cortisol should be at the highest first thing in the morning. When it’s not, you’ll feel like you are in a constant battle with your alarm clock.
- Get your second wind at night or feel like a night owl? Cortisol may be peaking at the wrong time.
