MaMHCA is excited to recognize our next Supervisor of the Month: Marissa Cashman- LMHC, MaACCS, LPC, CPC, LCMHC, LMHC

Over 11 years of trauma-based work including adoption, racism/bigotry harm, grief and loss, single event trauma, childhood abuse and neglect, and complex trauma with IFS and EMDR training with cultural diversity experience have shaped my clinical experience. I have worked with BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community members since the start of my clinical career.

My supervision approach can
-Provide a warm and supportive space to cultivate therapeutic understanding including case conceptualization
-Help develop innate clinical strengths while fostering space to learn and further build upon new clinical skills
-Guide and navigate complex cases through a trauma-informed lens
-Help gain self-advocacy and collaboration skills with other entities including prescribers and schools
-Establish an understanding of how systemic/racial/generational dynamics affect a client’s case

Supervision through my practice focuses on working with: Post-masters/Pre-licensed LMHC track providers for Contracted supervision, Licensed providers who are in the midst of a career change and setting up a private practice (School Adjustment Counselor/DCF to private practice, for example), or Licensed providers simply looking for support with more complex cases who may be experiencing imposter syndrome or feeling stigma/shame in asking for support.

Approaches used feature a cultural competence/spiritual and religious/anti-systemic oppression lens with a decolonization approach which helps supervisees understand the many layers that can shape and affect their cases and the mental health field as a whole. An understanding of current national and world events is also utilized in helping guide supervisees during times of uncertainty which can heighten burnout and/or compassion fatigue.

If my approach seems like it would be a good fit for you, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! You deserve to have the right support as you help others heal.

MaMHCA is excited to recognize our next Supervisor of the Month: Daniel Newman, APRN, PMHNP-BC, LMHC, CCMHC, MaCCS

"I completed five years of intensive clinical supervision at the Faulk Center for Counseling, with a dual emphasis on Rogerian interventions and psychodynamic case conceptualization, following the attainment of a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL. My supervisory approach integrates these traditions, fostering a developmental alliance that encourages self-reflective practice, clinical attunement, and ethical fidelity in pre-licensure clinicians. I emphasize both empathic presence and unconscious process in case formulation and intervention. Clinically, I specialize in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, relational trauma, and personality structure through a psychodynamically informed, humanistic lens. I have extensive experience working with adults and geriatrics, especially with regard to crisis counseling. My work is informed by a commitment to culturally responsive care and collaborative therapeutic engagement.

My dual credentials as both a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides unique cross-disciplinary expertise in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. I offer an integrative supervision approach grounded in Rogerian and psychodynamic principles, emphasizing clinical curiosity, ethical sensitivity, and development of effective and efficient treatment techniques. My goal is cultivating a supportive yet challenging environment where emerging clinicians develop into reflective, authentic practitioners."
