St. Patrick’s Day celebrates a shepherd who proclaimed the Gospel with fearless devotion. Through hardship and exile, he trusted God completely and transformed a nation through faith. May his missionary spirit inspire us to bring Christ’s light into every hallway, every room, and every encounter within our ministry.🍀🙏

This week, we honor the women and congregations whose courage continues to shape the ministries we steward today. Their stories are not simply history.

They are living blueprints for how faith becomes action and compassion becomes care that lasts.

Some were pioneers who stepped into mission territory when the need was great and the path forward uncertain. Mother Angeline McCrory built a ministry that affirmed the dignity of elders. Elizabeth Bruyère carried mercy into remote communities and created systems that ensured compassion would endure. Mother Cabrini crossed an ocean to serve immigrants in poverty, transforming love into institutions of healing and care.

Others ensured that the mission would endure for generations. The Sisters of St. Basil the Great demonstrate the courage to preserve ministries that serve elders and communities. Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska dared to be prophetic, forming values of dignity, compassion, transformation, solidarity, and justice that continue to guide Felician ministries today.

Together, these women remind us that mission is not only something we begin. It is something we faithfully protect, strengthen, and carry forward.

Each year the Caring Hands Award is given to an employee of St Patrick's Manor who most exemplifies one of the Core Values of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm. These values are modeled on the life of Venerable Mary Angeline Teresa Mc Crory O.Carm., the Foundress of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm. We were thrilled to honor the nominees and celebrate Gammie Ortiz, the 2026 award recipient. Thank you all for the many things you do to make St. Patrick's Manor such an amazing place.

The Works of Mercy are not simply acts of kindness; they are sacred encounters with Christ Himself. When we comfort the sick, feed the hungry, and care for the elderly, we touch the living presence of Our Lord. May our hands reflect His compassion and our hearts remain attentive to the dignity of every soul entrusted to us. 🤲✨

This is what 32 years of dedication looks like. We're so grateful to Jeanille for her devotion and care of both our residents and our staff. From being the go-to for young nurse's questions for many, many years to her willingness to sleep over to cover shifts during every blizzard, we celebrate Jeanille and thank her for more than we could ever fit in a single post.

We wish you a long, happy and healthy retirement filled with the kind of love you showed us all.
