Why Early Sensory Modulation Matters for Self-Regulation and Classroom Success
🗓 January 6, 2026 | ⏰ 7:00–8:30 PM EST
🎤 Presented by Kim Wiggins, OTR/L
Emotional and sensory dysregulation is showing up earlier than ever—and early intervention matters. In this free, research-informed webinar, Kim Wiggins explores why sensory modulation language and concepts should begin in early childhood to support self-regulation, social-emotional development, and classroom participation.
Participants will learn how play-based sensory activities, rhythm, movement, and hands-on learning build body awareness, emotional vocabulary, and regulation skills. We’ll also discuss how early sensory language like “fast,” “slow,” and “just right” bridges sensory processing and emotional regulation, and how educators can embed strategies throughout daily routines using a shared sensory framework.
Learning Objectives include:
• Understanding why early sensory modulation supports regulation, language, and participation
• Identifying evidence-based sensory and movement strategies for preschool routines
• Recognizing how sensory language supports SEL and emotional awareness
• Strengthening collaboration across OTs, PTs, SLPs, teachers, and SEL specialists
