Suprvisory and management experience required, independent licensure, as well as someone seeking a high-support, continual-learning environment, and who has a commitment to anti-racist and anti-racist practice, including ongoing trainings and affinity spaces. As a practice, we stand ready to help people with their emotional struggles no matter their background, and we follow the social work principle of starting where a client is at. We also believe in justice, and in speaking out for the marginalized voices of our society. Are you confused by the anger in our times? Perhaps this article will help, which takes a very compassionate and needed view of the anger arising in protest and vigil settings. Thanks for your brilliant words, Mr. Abdul-Jabbar. We stand in anger at the killing of George Floyd, and remain committed to helping heal trauma, and change the world.

Dear wonderful TLG community-- we hope you are all well and navigating this public health crisis as well as you can. It's a LOT. We at TLG have been working hard contacting each of our current clients and helping you to transition your care to telephonic or televideo options, and making plans with you to make sure you have enough support to get through this difficult time. We are also working hard advocating with your insurance companies to get you the best benefits you can, like waiving costshare for the plans that have agreed to this. We know it's a stressful time, and we want to do as much as we can to support you and your families. We have also begun now to take new intakes via Televideo for individual therapy and med management, and also to recruit for new online group offerings, such as our New Parent Group called This Kinda Sucks, starting a week from Tuesday! Please continue to reach out to our Intake Line at 857-273-2124 if you need therapy, medication, a referral or other resource, and we will do our best to help. We appreciate this community so very much and are trying to do all we can to serve you during this incredibly stressful pandemic. Please remember-- you are not alone-- and we want to help if we can. We will share more resources here over the next few weeks, and we hope they are helpful!
Please take care.❤️ Sincerely, the TLG staff

Hey all- I am offering my third open IG live at 10 to discuss the how-to's of the new LCSW Protocol offered by BCBS of MA. To join, follow , and join the live at 10! If you can't catch it, there are three videos saved for you to look at, and you can reach out to me later at [email protected] if you've got any questions-- if there are a lot I might even schedule another live. It's a significant step towards offering the excellent care that LCSWs can provide in private practcie settings- even wider parameters than the other companies that offer this-- but of course you need to do it ethically, supportedly, and withint the guidelines to make sure the client and the LCSW (and the LICSW supervisor) are supported and on solid ground. Hope this helps!

Hi all-

In the name of crazy things we do to stay relevant and get the word out about the power of bold and effective social work advocacy, I hope to see many of you today at 11, tomorrow at noon, or next Thursday at 10 on Instagram LIVE to talk about the LCSW protocol for BCBS and other options for patients to see LCSWs and be able to bill insurance. It'll be fun, I hope! To attend, add to your IG, then just show up at the appointed time. You can ask questions via the chat and I'll be more than happy to answer them to the best of my ability!

Enjoy the rainy day and hope to see you soon,

Jen

Op-Ed: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Don't understand the protests? What you're seeing is people pushed to the edge The main concern of black people right now isn’t whether they’re standing three or six feet apart, but whether their sons, husbands, brothers and fathers will be murdered by cops.

Love this self care message! When is the last time you allowed yourself a mental wellness break?

Just because it is the beginning of the week does not mean that you can't take a step back. Is it a break from a person, a project, or a place? Take a step back. Maybe all you need is a new perspective.

We are proud to have worked with Larry Cohen, the author of this incredibly helpful guide for parents. A true salve when you are struggling with your child’s anxiety, and your own. Check it out, as well as these other great picks from AMG!!

Today's A Mighty Girl Community Pick: "The Opposite of Worry: The Playful Parenting Approach to Childhood Anxieties and Fears" by Lawrence Cohen. Many kids wrestle with anxiety, whether it's imaginary worries like the monster under the bed or real-life concerns like being separated from a parent or handling new social situations. And as any parent who's had to prove the closet is empty for the hundredth time can tell you, these fears don't necessarily respond to logic or reassurance! But by starting with compassion and understanding, parents can teach kids how to address the full-body experience of anxiety -- and with a hearty helping of playfulness thrown in, kids will feel empowered to face the things they fear head on.

The author drew on years of experience as a clinical psychologist specializing in children’s play, play therapy, and parenting to create this insightful guide which offers parents a wealth of practical ways to help their anxious children feel more secure and confident. By helping kids understand how their bodies respond to anxiety, parents can show them how to build their tolerance for the discomfort that comes with pushing your boundaries, while still being sympathetic to the way kids feel. With these easy-to-implement strategies, parents can help their kids experience the opposite of worry and embrace connection, trust, and joy!

"The Opposite of Worry" is available at https://www.amightygirl.com/the-opposite-of-worry

Dr. Cohen is also the author of "Playful Parenting," which shows parents why play is so important to a child's healthy development, at https://www.amightygirl.com/playful-parenting

For another helpful parenting book on childhood anxiety that's particularly geared toward anxious parents, check out "Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents" at https://www.amightygirl.com/anxious-kids-anxious-parents

For several books for children and teens who struggle with anxiety, we highly recommend: "Wemberly Worried," for ages 4 to 8 (https://www.amightygirl.com/wemberly-worried), "What To Do When You Worry Too Much" for ages 6 to 12 (https://www.amightygirl.com/what-to-do-when-you-worry-too-much), "Outsmarting Worry: An Older Kid's Guide to Managing Anxiety" for ages 9 to 13 (https://www.amightygirl.com/outsmarting-worry), and "The Anxiety Workbook for Teens" for ages 13 and up (https://www.amightygirl.com/the-anxiety-workbook-for-teens)

Mental Health Care, Addiction Treatment Still Inaccessible For Mass. Residents, Report Says

The meeting yesterday to present this report was a good one. It started with our social worker Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders admitting that we can't even really call what we have here a 'system,' as it has so many holes in it. There is political will to make things better by policy, and we are part of an impassioned and skilled workforce that asks for rates to be fair and working conditions to be reasonable, which they largely are not at this point. We continue to advocate and bring your voices as our valued clients forward, and will always do so. We can do better Boston, and we are committed to making that happen.

Mental Health Care, Addiction Treatment Still Inaccessible For Mass. Residents, Report Says The authors of the new report say they hope this will serve as a call to action for policymakers.
