Please join me in congratulating Tom on his well deserved retirement! His path into pharmacy began in his father’s store in Brookston. In 3rd grade he was tasked with emptying the trash and getting the mail. As he grew older, he was promoted to washing windows and sweeping the floor. By age 16 he had earned the right to run the cash register.
After graduating from Purdue, he worked a few years for Revco in several different states. When God sent him to NC he met the love of his life and convinced her to move to Indiana in 1988 to buy Robinson’s Rexall in Mulberry. Together they cleaned that place up and made many friends. They had so much fun and fulfillment running an independent pharmacy they decided to buy Wynkoop Pharmacy in Delphi in 1989.
After a death sentence stage 4 malignant melanoma diagnosis, they sold the 2 stores and concentrated on his healing, which was nothing short of a miracle from God.🙌
After a much too long stint with CVS in Rossville, Tom once again convinced Allison to open another independent pharmacy in Frankfort! What a joy those 10 years were. Tom was doing what he was called to do-serving and graciously caring for people.
After 46 years as a pharmacist, he is hanging up the smock (sorta-he still plans to work every other Thursday!) He has passed the reigns to David and Rachel Norris, who are not only keeping the Holden Pharmacy name, but also the prompt quick and caring service that you have come to expect.
Ps. Tom is not sick. In fact due to a whole lot of walking, a physical trainer and good food choices he is in the best shape of his life!
