What are the benefits of Massage Therapy?
1. Massage Therapy keeps the muscles loose.
2. Allows new blood to flow into the muscles bringing in new blood carrying nutrients, fluid and oxygen that the muscle needs to function properly.
3. Prevents injury in any sport event or competition activity.
4. Promotes good blood circulation
5. Keeps lymphatic system open and functioning
6. Removes lactic acid from the muscles
7. Removes harmful toxins out of the muscles
8. Improves flexibility and mobility
9. Improves concentration
10. Deeper sleep at night
11. Reduces anxiety and panic attackes by calming the nervous system
The benefits go on and on. Massage Therapy is no longer looked at as a “luxury”, it is moving into the medical field as a preventative to injuries headaches and nervous system illnesses. Inflamed muscles pushes the skeletal system out of alignment, once the muscles are massaged and loosened the skeletal system eventually goes back in place. Untreated inflamed muscles prevents new blood and oxygen to enter the muscle and traps toxins from being removed from the muscle, causing crystals to form (is what we call knots) this is what causes pain by the muscle entrapping nerves.
How do we stay hydrated ?
Have you ever drank a lot of water but you still feel thirsty? This Is because the water is not getting into the cells of the body to hydrate them. If you take one grain of Celtic salt and put it on your tongue and drink 8 ounces of water, your cells will become hydrated, which will result in you feeling hydrated. Water follows salt. Table salt will not work because it Is processed.
I hope some of you have found this helpful and answered some questions. Massage Therapy is not a remedy only when injured, but a preventative for all activities.
One last thing. I have heard comments like, “ I love massages but I just can’t afford it on a regular basis”. Well, that tells me that the mindset isn’t where it needs to be. For example, let’s look at the negative side of not getting routine massages, you get injured, which at that point I may not be able to help you, you will accumulate high doctors bills, possible surgery, loss of work time, which will effect your monthly bills. But spending the money to get a massage to prevent injury is a fraction of what it could cost by not taking care of yourself.
I hope no one takes this as a lecturing post, but a learning post. Never feel guilty for practicing self-care, you owe it to yourself and your family.
