Dr. Myhand is board certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology and has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders. As the son of a career soldier, he grew up on Army bases throughout the US and Germany. His medical career started in military medicine where he received vast experience in both academic and clinical medicine. Dr. Myhand has held many positions including assistant professor, program director of a hematology/oncology fellowship training program and director of bone marrow transplant. He was previously the Chief of Hematology/Oncology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center and the San Antonio Military Medical Center. He then served as the Medical Director of the Adena Cancer Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. Pursuing his life-long dream of becoming a community oncologist, he practiced in Georgetown, Ky for the last 4 years prior to relocating to Frankfort. Rick Myhand, MD and the team at Covenant Oncology and Hematology are dedicated to providing you and your loved ones with compassionate and personalized care. The team will also navigate and coordinate your care with any other medical providers or services necessary for you to receive the best possible treatment and follow-up. For patients who need infusions, our on-site Infusion Service staffed by an oncology certified nurse provides care in a convenient, peaceful and warm environment. SERVICES PROVIDED:

Happy Veterans Day, and thank you for your service!

Fun facts: Dr. Myhand grew up in army bases all over the US and Germany. His father was a career soldier. Dr. Myhand served in the US Army for over 20 years before retiring as a full colonel to pursue his dream of being a community oncologist. His wife also served our country, which led the two of them to meet!

We have a couple of other veterans in the Covenant family this year! One of our nurses, Megan, and the newest face around the office, Brian, both served in the US Navy!
