Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day was Wednesday, and our wonderful directors celebrated the best way possible, by serving and caring for multiple families in our community.

Although the official day has passed, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to recognize these four incredible directors. Kileigh, Dion, Bill, and Josh dedicate countless hours to caring for the families we serve. Their compassion, commitment, and strong work ethic shine through in every service they conduct.

We are truly blessed to have the best of the best on our team. Thank you to each of these directors for always putting others first and for caring for our community the way you do. 🤍

Why does it matter to have a funeral?

Having a funeral service matters because it not only honors a life well lived, but also provides a space for family and friends to gather, share memories, and begin the healing process together. A meaningful service offers support, creates a sense of closure, and respects the traditions and beliefs that are important to each family.

At Goodwin Funeral Home and Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, we are here to guide you with compassion and care, helping you create a service that is both comforting and truly meaningful.

Happy International Women’s Day!

We couldn’t let the day end without recognizing the incredible women who help serve our community each and every day. These are just some of the amazing women on our staff who work hard to care for the families we serve. Without the dedication, compassion, and strength of our working women, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

Thank you not only to these women, but to all the wonderful women on our staff and throughout our community. We appreciate everything you do! đź’ś

Why it matters that we have our own crematory...

Having our own crematory means your loved one remains in our care every step of the way. There is no outside transportation and no third parties involved, only the trusted staff you know.

This provides peace of mind, knowing your loved one is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion from start to finish. It also allows us to offer more personalized options, ensuring their life is honored in a meaningful and thoughtful way.

Why is Pre-Planning Important?

Pre-planning is essential because it guarantees that your wishes will be respected, provides clarity for your family on how you'd like to be honored, and allows you to lock in current prices, protecting your loved ones from financial stress in the future.

By taking this step, you ensure that your family doesn’t have to make tough decisions during a difficult time. It’s all about making the process easier for those you care about.

Come talk to our compassionate, trustworthy professionals, Linda and Bonnie, who can guide you through the planning process with care and attention to detail.

Understanding the cremation process can bring comfort during an otherwise overwhelming time.

When a death occurs, Goodwin Funeral Home or Archer-Weston Funeral Home is contacted. Once your loved one is brought into our care, we begin caring for them with dignity and respect.

An arrangement meeting is then held to gather the information needed, during this time, families may also spend time with their loved one before cremation for final goodbyes and positive identification.

Once all requirements are met, cremation may take place. Indiana law requires a minimum of 48 hours from the time of passing, a signed death certificate from the physician, and a signed cremation authorization before cremation can occur.

When the process is complete, we will contact you so your loved one may be returned home or taken to their final resting place.

Pre-planning can help make this process smoother by having important information ready in advance. If this is something you’d like to consider, please don’t hesitate to reach out, we are here to help.
