The vision of ODCP is to lead the nation in ensuring a united front among prevention, treatment and law enforcement initiatives to address substance misuse in Kentucky. ODCP is committed to the values adopted by the Justice & Public Safety Cabinet and the following core values and guiding principles:

Plan for the development of an effective continuum of prevention and treatment services

Assure collaboration of prevention, treatment and law enforcement initiatives related to substance abuse

Provide a repository of information on best practices and standards of practice for prevention, treatment, education and law enforcement (as related to substance abuse)

Educate communities and families about substance abuse and resources for promoting a healthy lifestyle and assuring safety for Kentucky’s children

Involve citizens at all levels of planning and implementing effective programs

Develop standards of practice that assure the development, maintenance and improvement of prevention, treatment, education and law enforcement initiatives

Coordinate overall research and evaluation of effectiveness of programs and services
Assist and make recommendations regarding the management of existing resources assuring cost efficiency

Advocate for the enhancement of resources for substance abuse initiatives

Assist in developing policy and legislation that supports the mission and goals of the agency.

Tomorrow is National Rx Take Back Day. Everyone is encouraged to clean out their medicine cabinets and dispose of unneeded medications safely and conveniently at a local drop box. You can find one close to you on http://dea.gov/takebackday or https://odcp.ky.gov/Pages/Prescription-Drug-Disposal-Locations.aspx

In National Take Back 1-25, Kentucky has collected a total of  231,144 pounds of unused and/or unwanted prescription medications at all Drug Take Back ​​​events and locations since ​​October 2011.

💪 Kentucky takes another BIG step in the fight against addiction!

Governor Andy Beshear has announced $1.4 million in federal funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant to help nine agencies save lives and continue building a safer New Kentucky Home. The funding equips local agencies with resources to:

✅ Expand drug prevention programs.
✅ Provide counseling to crime victims.
✅ Train law enforcement to respond effectively.
✅ Support successful reentry efforts.
