Mary Dee was a bright light in all the lives she touched. She was a thoughtful, kind, and supportive friend that we all need. We will miss you!

We are all deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and former SOKY staff member Mary Dee Boemker. As a member of our staff, Mary Dee initiated our school-based programs which later became Unified Champion Schools as well as starting what became our Young Athletes Program. After she left our office, she continued her commitment to Special Olympics athletes as a swimming and bowling coach for many years. Mary Dee was a source of joy wherever she went. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
