There’s a lot that teenagers carry quietly.

Stress. Pressure. Social dynamics. Expectations. Feeling overwhelmed and not always knowing what to do with it.

And sometimes, by the time anyone notices how much is going on internally, they’ve already been holding it alone for a while.

Self-care is often talked about like it’s simple, but for a lot of teens, it’s something they’ve never really been taught.

That’s part of why we created Self Care 101 — a group space for teens to learn practical tools for emotional wellness, stress management, and caring for themselves in ways that feel realistic and supportive.

Not because something has to be “wrong” first.
Just because support and self-understanding matter.

There’s often an assumption that more years always means a better fit in therapy.

Experience matters.

So does proximity to the work.

Clinicians earlier in their careers tend to be deeply immersed in current research. They’re thinking actively about how different approaches apply, not just relying on what they’ve done before.

They’re also working closely with supervision, which adds another layer of care behind the scenes.

For many clients, that combination can feel more present and more engaged than they expected.

Some people wait until they can clearly explain why they need therapy.

That makes sense.

At the same time, a lot of people come in without a fully formed answer.

They just know something feels off, or harder than it used to.

That’s enough.

You don’t need to have it figured out before you begin.

Overthinking doesn’t always feel like thinking too much.

It can feel like going in circles without getting anywhere.

The same question, just in slightly different forms.

There’s usually a moment when someone first arrives.

Sometimes it’s walking into the office - or it’s sitting down and logging on.

Either way, there’s a pause.

Taking in where you are. Settling into the space. Getting a sense of who you’re about to talk to.

Most people don’t say much about that part, but it matters.

Whether it feels steady. Whether it feels like somewhere you can stay, even for a little while.

That first moment doesn’t need to feel perfect.

It just needs to feel like somewhere you can begin.

Reaching out for therapy can feel harder than people expect.

Not because the process is complicated, but because it asks you to step into something unfamiliar.

There’s often a moment of hesitation right before sending that message or filling out the form.

That pause makes sense.

You’re choosing to talk about things that haven’t always had space before.

You don’t have to feel ready in order to begin.

“Fit” gets talked about a lot in therapy.

It’s not always about liking your therapist.

It’s more about whether the space allows you to be honest, even when that’s uncomfortable.

That tends to matter more over time.

Inclusion gets talked about in broad terms, but in therapy it tends to show up in smaller ways.

It shows up in how someone is listened to, in what can be said without over-explaining, and in the absence of assumptions.

Over time, that’s what allows people to settle into the work more fully.

Not because anything was announced, but because it was felt.

Gratitude doesn't have to be big. Sometimes it's as simple as noticing what helped you get through the day.

What's one small thing you're thankful for today?
