A copay is a fixed dollar amount that is collected at each doctor visit .

Co-insurance is a percentage of the cost of a covered service. Ex: 80/20 meaning insurance pays 80% of your visit and the patient pays the other 20%.

Your health insurance deductible is the fixed amount you pay for covered medical services (like doctor visits, prescriptions) before your insurance company starts paying its share. Then once you meet that, your plan kicks in, often with coinsurance percentage or copays! Insurance can be tough to understand so feel free to ask questions 😊
