🚨 MAJOR UPDATE for Idaho Medicare Consumers & Insurance Agents 🚨
The Idaho Department of Insurance just issued Bulletin 25-06 that PROTECTS your rights and access to Medicare plans!
What's Been Happening:
Some Medicare Advantage carriers have been playing games—removing online enrollment applications, pressuring agents NOT to sell certain plans, cutting commissions mid-year, or steering seniors toward more profitable plans instead of what's best for YOU.
What Idaho DOI Says: STOP IT! ❌
Carriers MUST now:
✅ Keep enrollment applications easily accessible (online, printed, through agents)
✅ STOP discouraging agents from selling approved plans
✅ STOP cutting commissions mid-year to manipulate the market
✅ Pay agents IF compensation was built into the plan's rates
Why This Matters:
👵👴 For Seniors: You deserve access to ALL plans filed and approved in Idaho—not just the ones carriers profit most from. Your needs come FIRST.
🤝 For Agents: You can't help clients if carriers make it impossible to sell certain plans or pull the rug out from under you mid-year. This protects your ability to serve.
🏢 For Carriers: Play fair or face enforcement action under Idaho Code § 41-1321.
The Bottom Line: Idaho DOI is saying loud and clear—if a plan is approved for sale in Idaho, it must be ACTUALLY available and marketed fairly. Consumer choice and fair competition matter.
Shoutout to Director Dean L. Cameron for protecting Idahoans! 👏
