Pride Month is a celebration, but it began as resistance. On June 28, 1970, the first Pride march commemorated the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising — a pivotal moment led by courageous LGBTQ+ individuals, many of whom were trans and gender nonconforming, who stood up against injustice.
Let’s honor their legacy by continuing to fight for equality, inclusion, and safety for all. 💪🏾✨

Cooling Center Open
With the extreme temperatures and high heat indexes expected the next few days, the Village of River Grove will open the Cooling Center located at the Elmer Wolf Community Center at 2607 Thatcher (between the Police Department and the Fire House). Residents will have to show ID’s and can check in at the police station to be let in. Additionally, please check on your neighbors, especially our Seniors to be sure they are safe in this heat.

Meals on Wheels serves thousands of older adults who rely on the service for daily nutrition and social connection, and is available for adults aged 60 and older in Franklin Park. Home-delivered meals are provided for a small, suggested donation per meal. No one is ever turned away if unable or unwilling to pay. In addition to providing fresh, hot meals to those who are homebound, Meals on Wheels also supports the Franklin Park Senior Café that provides low-cost lunches, activities, and other services.

For more information on obtaining meals or to learn how you can donate or volunteer, call Lupe Borjon at (847) 678-8777 or visit www.MOWFNI.org. The Franklin Park Café is located at 10040 Addison Avenue.
