The Brahma Kamal flower is a rare flowering plant found in the Himalayan region. It blooms between July and August. The fragrant plant is often used in religious ceremonies. The flower has been mentioned in many ancient texts.

Hindu text states that the flower sprang from Brahma's head when he created the universe. The Rigveda, a sacred Hindu text, mentions the Brahma Kamal plant in several hymns. This flower was also worshipped by the ancient Greeks and Romans, who associated it with their goddesses of love and fertility.

The Special part of the flower is that it only blooms at night for a couple of hours. We are blessting to have 2 flowers in our home on the eve of Shravan Maas.

Happy Makar Sankranti to everyone.

Makar(a) Sankranti is the only Hindu festival based on the solar calendar instead of the lunar. Makar Sankranti is the celebration of the sun's journey from the Southern to the Northern Hemisphere and is considered an auspicious time. Makar translates as 'Capricorn' and Sankranti means 'transition'. Usually falling on the date of January 14 annually (January 15 on a leap year)

Agnihotra Yagya
9500 years ago performed agnihotra yajna (fire offering) in order to purify the environment, as detailed in Rigveda (oldest of Vedas), in which certain natural elements were offered to the fire that was lit in an inverted copper pyramid; this was accompanied by the chanting of mantras. Agnihotra HOMA ensures healthy air and pure drinking water – thus providing a strong foundation for good health. The chanting of the Agnihotra mantra activates special vibrations. Mantras are said to have a positive effect on every aspect of human life and surroundings.

It is celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day (Trayodashi) of Krishna Paksh.

This is what grief is.
A hole ripped through the very fabric of your being.
The hole eventually heals along the jagged edges that remain. It may even shrink in size.
But that hole will always be there.
A piece of you always missing.
For where there is deep grief, there was great love.
Don’t be ashamed of your grief.
Don’t judge it.
Don’t suppress it.
Don’t rush it.
Rather, acknowledge it.
Lean into it.
Listen to it.
Feel it.
Sit with it.
Sit with the pain. And remember the love.
This is where the healing will begin.
