The Massage Therapy Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing of Erik Dalton on his 81st birthday, January 11, 2025. Erik’s contributions to the massage therapy profession were unparalleled. His innovations and passion for education have profoundly shaped the field and inspired countless practitioners.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Erik’s family, team, and the global community he touched. His legacy lives on in the knowledge, skills, and compassion he shared with so many.

Let us honor Erik by continuing to grow, learn, and support one another, just as he encouraged us to do.

To whom this may concern:

It is unfortunate that we as Licensed Professionals even need to post this but, with the lack of consequences rendered for impersonating a Licensed Massage Therapist (a Class B Misdemeanor in KY) and the idiocracy of a mere $250 fine for prostitution, here we are.

I believe I can speak for all LMT’s stating that most of us have had the unfortunate call/ and or text with the request of a “sensual massage” or even something worse 🙄.
It sickens me to say the least!!

My reasoning for this post is to bring public awareness of what you can do as a client to insure you are receiving massage from an actual Licensed Massage Therapist.

We as actual Licensed Professionals are required to:
- Obtain an official FBI background check
- Complete at least 600 hours of college education courses approved by the KY State Board
- Pass the State Board Licensing Exam (MBLEx)
- Not to mention maintaining that active licensure, CE requirements, Self Employment taxes, and I could go on and on…

Licensed Massage Therapist are required to post their license in their establishment. If you don’t see this posted, then ask for either their name or Licensure number, you can look up either to insure they currently have an active Licensure to perform Massage.

I hope this helps individuals seeking the true benefits of massage and I pray for more harsh punishment for those that are using our practice as a front for illicit activities!!
