I am honored to share this wonderful article by Rebekah Bernard, MD who runs Gulf Coast Direct Primary Care. Often direct patient care physicians are confused with concierge physicians. While both concierge physicians and direct patient care physicians aim to practice medicine without the impact of government and corporate mismanagement, and provide a higher level of care, we are otherwise quite different.

For one, concierge physicians often continue to bill insurance, while direct patient care doctors do not. The most important distinction, however, is that direct patient care was created to serve all people.

The idea that drives direct patient care is that everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare. As a DPC doc, I hope to see a variety of incomes, professions, ages, education levels, races, sexual identities, genders and more! This makes my practice rich and diverse.
